... it was tasty.

Homemade Split Pea Soup with huge chunks of ham and potatoes, Yeast rolls, and as an appetizer, Armadillo Eggs [Linked Image from ar15.com]

Adult beverage is Bushmill's.

You put potatoes in split pea soup?

That’s not what my momma taught me. Onions, carrots, celery, leeks…sure. Buttered rolls for dipping, sure. No potatoes.

Nothing wrong with the Bushmill's.

But potatoes?

Maybe I’ll give it a try.

Your armadillo eggs are similar to somthing my dad makes called Atomic buffalo Turds. They are bacon wrapped and cheese stuffed though. And they can be made with bananna peppers to lessen the impact on the ol taste buds.

Good pic. I saw Zombieland and loved it. BTW, I also am getting into single malts. How's that Bushmill's? Are the Irish single malts peaty like the Scottish Whiskies? I'm having a hard time getting past the "smoky flavor".

If you're not a fan of the super peaty flavor, there are lots of scotches that are much less smokey - try a good highland (Macallan comes to mind as one of the more popular ones).

I'm far from a scotch expert, though, so hopefully someone with more knowledge than me will chime in. I just drink the stuff once in a while.

I even drink crappy stuff like this:

Oh, no!

You don't want to pour that down your throat.

Send it to me immediately for proper disposal.

The best part is - that bottle was given to me as a gift when I moved to Georgia, and I only recently cracked it open. That makes it more like an 18-20 year old single malt

In a word, no. Bushmill's and Jamesons (two of the more popular Irish whiskeys) are *not* as "smokey" tasting as Scotch.

What they are is smooooooth and somewhat sweet. Not as sweet as bourbon, mind you, but they're not harsh at all.

Try them.
