I agree about buying the Waki now and waiting for the BW for later. I think someone else mentioned that you can always sell if you don't like it, which I agree with.

Great!!?....I think you guys have talked me into buying a Waki. And I just thought I had resisted long enough.

I think I may have missed the boat, on Rat Chat Eric says pre-orders are closed.
I sent an e-mail anyway. Maybe I did wait long enough.

"pre-orders are closed"

Well Budman, it looks like your choice has narrowed down to 1!

Now you have to figure out which BW combo.

I had already placed an order for a BW. Maybe a Waki for me was not meant to be. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

I see the Waki as being a one time only type release. I understand that Busse has released three swords: the original AK, the RUCK, and the AK47. There have been a lot of 10" choppers released by them and new ones seem to be out frequently. There are the three or four varients of the SY Dogfather, there are multiple versions of the Battlerat, not to mention the RatDaddy and RatMastif, the number and variations of the Battle Mistriss would take up a lot of space in this post. To me the ability to own and use, if I desire, a fully functional sword make from the best modern techniques that can really take a thrashing is more attractive then a 10" blade. It may not be as practical as the wacker but it is by far more unique. My Waki is one of the only blades I own that I can almost guaranty will not be sold. The Dogfather I owned, breafly, went from being really cool, the ideal chopper, to holy crap is this thing is big, thick and heavy. I replaced it with a Battlerat which I am more pleased with but still may sell it as finances are tight. The Waki, however, will not be sold.

I believe you're right about 10" blades vs swords. One can't just easily buy a quality usable sword at a reasonable price where every other knife manufacture provides a beefy blade that suits most purposes.

No problem I hope it was helpful. Even with the 'Last Call' the Waki can be fold for about what the factory is selling them for, new on the exchange from those who have changed there minds. The prices will likely go up dramatically soon after the last ones are delivered.

Just saw a full page ad for the Waki in a magazine dated Nov 2009 on the newstand. Seems like they must still be taking orders if that's the case. The name of the magazine was Gun Digest (it's a magazine now as well as a book).
