I was wondering if there are many knifemakers in the yard... Also I've seen that there are some verry skilled dogs overhere for sharpening, and getting convex and mirror edges.
Today I started on a new "project". I had some steel(=100Cr6) and thought to start with something basic. The idea came by reading a Dutch Knife magazine,... There was a tutorial about making knives. It was about a Bushcraft knife (a knife like Ray Mears usually uses). Advice is always welcome....
I'll hope to get it good from the first time. And maybe I will post some pictures in the next days...
It would be great to see some pics of some personal work, maybe one in action Vs a Scrapyard knife....

We've got a few that have done a handful of knives here. MrPink has done 3 or 4 (I think). I have reground a Cold Steel SRK to a full height flat grind with a convex edge. Also, I started my first knife over the summer, but still haven't finished. It's 3/8" 1095 with about a 6 1/2 inch blade. I'll tell you, 3/8" thick steel takes a while to grind on a 6 x 48 Craftsman belt sander. Oh, my creation is Scrap Yard inspired, too! I'll post picks for sure whenever I get it completely done. I've done the flats of the blade and the blade profile, but I need to finish the handle shape.
Oh, Snot Pig is another that has made some knives.

Probably the best known knifemaker who frequents our forum is Bill Siegle. Bill's a great guy, an excellent knifemaker, and a big fan of Bussekin knives. Bill Siegle is part of the forum community?!

I've seen snotpigs work, and indeed he did some fine work. Also I need to ask: Who is Bill Siegle ? I probally asked a stupid question?
I tought there were more handy dogs? A while a go I've seen some beautifull convex edges. I think one was on a Waki...
Dou you guys use a normal belt sander or a KMG belt sander?

Bill makes some excellent knives and is located here in Oregon . Super great guy- very nice knives at a reasonable cost. Plus- he is a big Bussekin fan
