need it be useful or badass?

if the former, i say Spyderco. if the latter, go get a ZT0302.

I am thinking I want it to be more on the useful side. For some reason I have just been needing ( wanting) a big useful badass folder . I held a Benchmade in my hand at the Eugene show last year and cannot remember which model it was ? It just felt right. One of those rare times I didn't pull the trigger . I am thinking I DESERVE to buy myself some Christmas gifts and this is one of em . Thanks- I will jump over and look at your suggestions

I would check out the Spyderco Military...It's a nice knife and large. Also the Endura by Spyderco - it's a little cheaper. Really depends on what you want to spend and what you want in the knife...Strider, Emerson, Reeves, etc. are all nice but in the pricey range. Benchmade makes some nice knives also. I like my Griptillian. Again, depends on what you are looking for...Steel? Handle material? Lock type? etc. etc.

another vote for the ZT 0300 (frame lock), or the more compact version, ZT 0350 (real thick liner lock).

Well, for REALLY large knives, I like Cold Steel.

X2 with Dumpster Mutt

In the same blade length is the Rajah, which Horn Dog bought and said he likes.

Then if you want a REALLY big knife, there's the XL Espada. It has a 7.5" blade, with an overall length of 16 3/4"!!!
