Just got the word last night that I didn't make the cut and got laid off. Good news is that there's a job that pays about the same, better working conditions(no frozen chicken coming after me) and a few miles closer to home. Bad news is that they're not hiring till the first of the year. I can get unemployment, but that doesn't pay much but it's better than nothin right now. But over the last few month's I've gotten a good deal on a few great knives. I'm happy with what I've got. But now it's time to get looking for something to cover me till the first of the year. Sorry to hear about that, I heard about a company here going to do a bunch of layoffs before the 24th. That must be really hard, especially around the holidays.
You will be in my prayers, say one for me too, I have a deal on the edge and it really needs to go through.

check out craigslist for odd jobs, there is a ton of 1/2 day and sometimes full day jobs and they pay cash. It sustained me for almost 9 months, as i am blacklisted from getting Unemployment benifits

I'm unemployed as well. Been that way since October.

I just interviewed today for a part-time job with a govt. contractor. They're hiring 40 people so I should make the 'cut.'

Good luck, direwolf. Times are definitely a bit hard. I'm glad you have something else lined up for January. I have had no luck at all even finding part time work this year.
