I have developed a bit of a flashlight fetish lately, and just got some new ones in today. Here they are with the existing collection: New flashlights came in.... ![[Linked Image from farm3.static.flickr.com]](http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2733/4156480969_f1acc3f4d2_b.jpg) L to R: Olight T10 (1xCR123A or 1xAA with optional adapter), Romisen RC-G2 II (1xAA), Solarforce L2R Grey and Black (2xAA), Fenix TK20 (2xAA), and MG RX-1 Romisen, Solarforce, and MG are the new ones. The Romisen and Solarforce lights are for gifts. The Romisen was under $20 and impressively bright for a 1xAA light. It only has one brightness setting, though, and around an hour or two of battery light. The Solarforce lights take a P60 dropin, which was out of stock, and should ship to me in a week or two. The MG RX-1 is pretty dang impressive. It definitely lights up a room. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten a chance to test it outdoors yet to see just how well it throws. With that big reflector, I expect a heck of a lot of throw.

How do you like your Fenix TK20? I am waiting for an LD20 to arrive, so I guess I'll have a pretty good idea myself soon, but just curious.
BTW, impressive book collection there too. Way over my head.

The TK20 is an older model, with a less efficient LED, so it's blown away by newer lights. It also has a fair amount of noticeable flicker in the output, especially on low modes.
I believe both of these issues have been fixed in more recent versions.

MM do you mean the newer models of the tk20 are better or the newer models of their flashlights? I carry a Maratac aaa as an edc and love it. The 3 modes are ideal for me. BUT I am wanting something brighter with a longer run time and easy to find batteries. The tk20 sounds pretty good, would it be?

Those are really nice lights. I've been wanting to get the Fenix LD10, i think it uses 1AA battery. I have been wanting to get the Surefire 6P LED light too. I'm not a big tactical light fan, they are superbright, but the runtime sucks on most of them. I try to stick with 1AA and 1AAA lights too, but I do have a few that run on CR123A batteries.

Yeah I'm not lookin for a Tac light either, just one that will shine fairly bright and last a while on a set of batteries if needed. One for just normal flashlight duties.

MM do you mean the newer models of the tk20 are better or the newer models of their flashlights? Both. I got my TK20 on clearance, and when I noted that it didn't seem as bright as I expected, someone on candlepowerforums told me that what I got was the discontinued older version, and the newer ones would be brighter. I don't know that for a fact - it's just second hand info. In general, though, LED technology is always increasing, and many flashlight companies will bump up to newer LED's in their lights as they become available - often without clearly telling you the difference, so it's really confusing. The TK20 is plenty bright for normal flashlight duties, and if you run it on low it has decent runtimes. It's only a two-mode brightness though. It's a bit bulkier than some other 2xAA flashlights, but also has the rubberized grip, which is great in cold weather. The other Fenix 2xAA lights are higher end - the TK20 is more of a simple, stripped down base model.

OK thanks, I am just looking for something to put in my kit that I keep in the jeep. Right Now I have a Mag 3D with a 3 watt let bulb beside the seat. In the kit (otterbox3500) I have an arc 1aa and am looking to get something with more output to replace it. Not looking for anything fancy, just a good solid dependable user/beater.

I never owned any Fenix lights, but I heard nothing but good things about them. I think my first one will be the LD10

I like Fenix a lot - great value, and really bright.
Not a fan of Surefire to be honest - really expensive, and often dimmer than cheaper models from lesser known brands. There are a lot of no-name companies out there putting out phenomenal lights at great values.
My MG CR-X cost about 60 bucks and is brighter than Surefires that cost three times as much. Throws farther too <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
