ok, we've been to knife shows, we've seen pics of other who have gone to shows like Knob Creek and Easton. We've drooled over the tables full of Busse and Bussekin knives.
So where do these knives come from? I mean many of them are from past runs and no longer offered on the websites, right? So do they make a bunch of runs just for the shows or do they secretly have a hidden stockpile somewhere that they break out when it's time for a show?

it's nice to know some Rat traps are still out there! I missed out and I've seen em go for up to $300 on BF!
the mystery continues.

It's pretty reasonable to assume that they have at least small stockpiles of blade blanks for most of the knives they have produced. After all, with an unconditional lifetime warranty, you've gotta keep a couple on hand so you can replace a blade if it breaks.

A lot of those blanks have been used for either re-issues at shows, tweaks to old designs, or all-out custom shop pieces. For example, the Easton show had a fighter that was based on a BM-E blank that had been ground into a totally new shape, and also had a pair of ZT SH-E's. Other shows lately have been getting Heavy Heart blanks, that have been given a full flat grind (HH's were saber ground), and sold at HH prices.

Plus, there are the special new designs that are introduced specifically at shows, like the recent Swamp Rat Vex.

I know some Rat Traps were sold for original pricing at a previous show . . . Blade Atlanta, perhaps.

It was Knob Creek.

Darn the luck, I might even drive to Dallas if they had one there.

The Shows are definately a good place to pick up some hard to find blades. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Gotta watch out for those tricky Hogs though... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I had to fly about 800 miles for Blade Atlanta, but it was more than worth it! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

They don't come to California, either. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/sad.gif" alt="" /> I had to fly almost 1000 miles to Portland, Oregon to get to one. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I may see you there next year! That's also the closest show for me.
