Man, I had a Jack earlier and now I feel like I need something else. In OK, all liquar stores are closed from 9pm to 9am, holidays, sundays. I did not get away from school before 8 in the evening this week, wrestling dual road trips on tuesday and thursday, and tournament on friday and saturday. Guess what, nothing good here at the house except a special bottle and the Jack. I am dying!

MM, me too! I did get some Bushmills to try. Not too bad. I think I will try the Four Roses next time though.

I'm on the lookout for some of that Van Winkle.
Seems appropriate since I'm a Dutchman.

Great choice on the 20yr old Van Winkle MM!
I've had a lot of Bourbons and the entire ORVW line is hard to beat. Even the 10 yr old is Excellent! The 15 year and 12yr are the best bang for the buck IMO, but the 20yr is the best tasting IMO. For those who are not used to Bourbons, the ten year old at about $30 is a great place to start. I drink them all straight most of the time but will occasionally add a single ice cube to bring out some of the "locked in flavors".
Every year, I get as much of ANY of the VW lineup that I can and then ration it over the upcoming year. Almost all of the stores that carry it around here will limit each purchase to only 1 or 2 bottles of each at a time. All of them sell out with in a week here. I can't order liquor on line because no one ships to my state. I was able to get 2 the 23 year old crystal sets this year and will give an update on it when I open the first one ( after Christmas - it's my present from my incredible wife!)

The discussion of those sets on bladeforums was what got me in the mood to try something from the ORVW line. After you finish one of the bottles, wanna send the empty decanter to me? That would be cool to have, even if I can't enjoy the spirit that came in it They had several of the 10 year bottles left - I'm tempted to grab a few for gifts.

I would recommend that you pick up as many of the 10 yr old vintage that they will allow! This is great every day sipping for the money. If you don't like it that much then I'll take what you don't want!
I'll probably keep the 1st decanter and use it for other Van Winkles. I plan to hold on to the unopened 2nd set for a while and decide what to do with it in a year or two!
