(Actually I drink Patron AGAVE tequila buts you didnt hear it from me)

lol

I drank a lot of Patron until i found a tequila bar and got to try a bunch of different tequilas and mezcals... I fell in love with Chinaco and El Tesoro, two phenominal tequilas that cost almost half as much as Patron and are about twice as tastey (at least to me). They're still 100% blue agave of course... just some ideas. Of course you will have to wait 4 years, since no one ever drinks alcohol until they turn 21

I just realized how lucky you are to have found out about this quality of blade at your age -- Oh, man, i wasted SO many years and so much $ searching for high performance knives that didn't break the bank... Don't get me wrong, I know there are other really, really great knives out there or makers who, for a reasonable price, make you a blade that you can tie in a pretzel and it will come back to true - but they are few and far between, and not at all easy to find, as i'm sure you have discovered...
You are a lucky man, sir!

Then again, when i was your age, It took a $2000 computer to be able to access the internet and actually display pictures, and there were no pictures of knives back then, either - if you know what i mean...

Anyways, Irie...

El Tesoro? That tranlates as "The Treasure". (Im half Irish half Mexican so I speak some spanish)

I have never seen either of those two, but Im from Las Vegas, maybe it differs from place to place, IDK??

Im trying to decide right now between a custom Mashed Cat sheath and Spyderco DOublestuff for my Boss Street or a huge bottle of the Patron (IDK exact size, but It costs $78.00 at Food 4 Less.

I have 80 bucks to spend.

HARD CHOICE!!!

Also what is better, the silver patron or the reposado (gold) ????

@Mr. WTF!,

Wow, there's a brutal choice... I'd be going in circles with that one as well, haha... I'm Irish but unfortunately i'm a pureblood, which means less biodiversity, hence more limted genetic development, etc, etc. It seems like the way to get the most favorable evolutionary traits is to have as diverse a racial blackground (sorry about the pun) as possible.... although i have heard arguments for Sudanese bloodlines, being the oldest, as potentially having the most time to make positive leaps and enhancements throughout the highest number of generations, leading to what seems to be the highest amount of dominant, read: "positive", or "strong", and the fewest recessive, weak, vulnerable etc traits... Who knows, but i dig genetics. I have noticed having the most dominant traits also leads to getting beat up by the police and followed around by security personnel at grocery stores, ironically.

As for your question, SUPPOSEDLY the Reposado and Aņejo tequilas, which tend to be darker from being aged in their casks longer, are supposed to be better, more mellow and refined through the ageing process... They are also consequently usually more expensive, since they take up real estate while they are ageing in huge casks, and because a certain amount of spirit is lost through the pores in the wood (lhe lost portion referred to by the Scotts and Irish as the "Angel's Share"...

--HOWEVER--

I tend to like most tequila in its "Blanco" or "Plata" state - unagedd, right off the receiver (or minimally aged. Just as i like some Single Malt Scotch Whisky young and fiery, particularly those from the island of Islay (pronounced "EYE-luh") in Kildalton Parrish, where the Malts tend to taste like ddriftwood beach fires, salt-spray, burning tires, bandages and surgical wards, heather and iodine, or a puff from a catterpillar's hookah and a mouthful of wild mushrooms, you name it, they probably distill it at LAphroaig, Ardbeg, Lagavullin, Caol Ila, (previously, mournfully) Port Ellen, and most lately, some interesting things have been pouring forth from Bruichladdich, like Octomore, which i am trying to negotiate the selling of a kidney on the black market to procure (it's actually a pig kidney, but very good quality - Shhh!)

Yeah, anyway, so i understand the dillemma of having a limited amout of Skrilla and an unlimited array of enticing distilled beverages and distilled steel with points, sharp edges and handles... One great advantage that knives seem to have is that they generaly last longer, and do not produce physical withdrawl symptoms when withdrawn (no D.T.s, etc), although the psychological compultion to posess either seems to be pretty much unlimited as far as i can tell...

Thanks for the translation of "El Tesoro" -- I would have to say that i think it lives up to its name, especially at around $25 for 750ml of the Blanco. Also, one of my favorite true budget tequilas is El Jimador. It's definitely nothing fancy, but it will hold its own against tequilas twice the price!

Let me know what you decide to do, yeah? Cool.
Easy Mr.,

Me wants a Mora 2000 and 2010 to add to the bag of steel.
I was going to recommend going a bit higher-end than an $8 Mora, more like $30 for a Morakniv 2000 -- There's absolutely nothing wrong with a model 840 carbon steel Clipper, or a model 860 Clipper in stainless. They're great for the price (I'm also a big fan of the traditional red-handled #2 in laminated steel, although they're not as common), but if you want to compare against a higher-priced knife, I'd use a M2K.

Note, a lot of people hate the sheath that comes with the M2K, but I've read that it doubles as a tube for blowing on your ember when starting a fire, keeping you farther back from the smoke, so you don't inhale it like Michael Skupin did on the second season of Survivor (he passed out, pitched forward into their fire, and had to be evacuated due to burns).

It may sound like a silly thing happen, but people get injured in really strange ways when they don't think things through -- for instance, it's surprisingly easy to cut yourself very badly with an ax when chopping branches for firewood. I watched a youtube video a while back where a guy explained that, if at all possible, he chops from his knees so that if the branch breaks through easier than expected, the blade strikes the ground rather than continuing in an arc that could end in his leg. Additionally, no chopping if you're fatigued or after sundown; if you're tired or can't see well, you're more likely to make [potentially catastrophic] mistakes with an ax.
