Greetings all.
Stanley_White here a new member of the Scrap Yard Forums.
I recently scored my first two Scrapyard Knives those being a Scrapper 6 and Son of Dogfather. To say I am impressed would be a understatement.
For anyone who owns both of these knives do you find one more mission capable then the other based upon the differences in size / balance etc?
Initially I find the Scrapper 6 more balanced and much more comfortable to choke up on for fine work as the choil seems more rounded then the SOD and it does not have the slight hump on the back of the blade near the guard as the SOD does.
The SOD seems like the blade stays thicker closer to the point then the S6 which would make it better for prying. Additionally, the SOD's forward balance would be superior for hacking.
Comparing the two -- what are the thoughts of the experts here at the Yard?
Thank you for your time and Merry Christmas!

WELCOME TO THE YARD!
i have both the SOD and the scrapper 6 too, GREAT BLADES. I use the Scrapper as a all rounder blade and the SOD as my bush chopper.

Welcome to the 'Yard Stan : ) I can't comment on the SOD but I do own a Scrapper 6 which was my first SYK purchase (sadly from the secondary market as production of the S6 had finished by the time I discovered the Bussekin family knives) The Scrapper is, I think my favourite all round 6" do everything knife. The SR77 is awesome & pretty much indestructable. Takes a great edge (but SR101 & Infi hold a edge from just a tad longer) Enjoy your "Grail knife" my friend & have a Great Christmas : ) All the Best, JB

Welcome Stanley...I own both and love both knives. As you stated, the SOD is beefier and better suited for prying. I like the S6 as it is lighter, more balanced and easier to carry, even if just barely. Both are excellent knives.

As others have said, the S6 is a tweener (all-arounder). It's a bit large for an EDC and a bit small for a chopper, but despite that, it can do either and feels great in the hand. The SoD is a compact chopper; a Dog Father is an even better chopper, but the SoD is easier to carry -- I think of its role as comparable to a FSH. Personally, I prefer the S6 for most applications due to its neutral balance, but they're both fine knives.

Welcome to the yard. Regarding the S6 and SOD, Jim summed it up well.
