There are not many products that have demand like the Busse family of knives.
The Playstation 2 had similar demand but the attitude was the antithesis of the nice little community we have here. I had a more exciting Scraptravaganza than I had intended when my Credit Card simply died of fright and I had to drive very fast to
over to my very understanding Grandmothers house to borrow her Credit Card.
She was about as thrilled as you would expect but let me use it. I raced home and when I quickly checked the order page THERE WERE NO MUTTS LEFT ,they were gone from the order page.

I checked back at the Yard for info and morale support but it wasn't very long before someone(I will go back and check to send a thank you PM)informed me they were back up. They say you can't get subtle feelings through the internet but you could totally tell the guys were genuinely rooting for me. It worked I got confirmation of both my order and the payment.

It turned out that even if I had not scored a MUTT Cold One got my back and bought 2 extra for me. It turned out I did not need it and Cold One had gotten to like the idea of having more than one. Kraz did the same thing for someone not as lucky as me. I ordered 4 myself and according to the poll only 25% of the Mutt buyers bought a single knife. 75% of us bought more than one. That is unusual as well. I wonder how many of Strider's or Fallkniven's business are sales of multiple numbers of the same knife at once to a single customer?

How many Mutts did you buy and why ?

uno for this guy... i've never bought multiples of the same knife (unless you count the res-c howler, howling fat and hrlm as multiples). i love knives in the 4" range and am really looking forward to checking out the slightly longer DM!

I love this forum and they got my back, but I would have only gotten one. As much as I love them and WANT more, I realized that one is all you need. I don't like hording, but usually someone can get a blade they missed because like that.

I intend to use...most every one of my blades, so I only get one these days, when I first started I would buy 8 of any given knife at any given time.

I bought one, I thought about buying more to cover "what if" scenario but rationalized out that I would really only ever use one.

Buying knives from the yard is fun I can say I have never experienced anything like it. If for some reason I was unable to get one some Dog including the Big Dog has my back, you just don't find this in to many places anymore.

Some companys release a small number into a vast market however, there motives are driven strictly by money and nothing else. I don't believe this to be the case at the yard. Dan could easily sell his knives for quite a bit more and people would still buy them, maybe not as fast but they would still sell non the less.

The yard is a very rare place to which I'm glad to be a part of.

Woof to the yard!!!!!

I got one to use and one for a "spare," - gonna be a safe queen for now and will be taken with me as a backup if I ever go somewhere that may require it such as deployment.

I also bought one for a Dog that couldn't be online, as many of you guys did for fellow members of the yard.

I also only bought one. But I did the math anyway:

Let's see. If I buy a Mutt for $85.00 shipped and sell it for $100.00 plus shipping, I'll make a 17.5% return on my investment. Now if I buy a whole bunch of Mutts and combine shipping and/or I can sell them for over $100.00 apiece, the return on my investment could approach 20% or more. Where else can I make that kind of ROI on what amounts to a sure thing?

I bought one. The five inch length of the Dumpster mutt really isn't very aluring right now for me. At least not when I have the SS4, the scrapper 6, and the 10 inch Dogfather that fill their respective niches very nicely.

I do have a habit of keeping a sheath knife in each car. I've got a Ranger RD-7 in the car the wife and I drive to work. And there's a SOG Seal Pup in our other car that only really gets driven by me.

Right now the plan is to hang onto the dumpster mutt for a little while and see what the secondary market is doing with them. I may be able to trade it for something I really want, like a Camp Tramp, a Scraper 7 when they come out, or simply sell it outright for something else. Of course I could fall in madly in love with the dumpster mutt and keep it in one of my cars in lieu of another blade. However, time will tell what happens.
