I will also say that the trickery is fair game because Jerry goes out of his way to warn people about it, in a sticky thread at the top of the forum. If people lack the reading comprehension to understand that, or are too lazy to read that thread carefully and notice the giant bold warning in different colors, warning them about the treachery, then they might deserve to get tricked. But maybe that's my vindictive side of too many years teaching spoiled rotten liberal arts college kids - I like the idea of teaching people a lesson for not bothering to READ THE BLOODY INSTRUCTIONS <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Yeah we had a big discussion about people flipping them for a profit on the bladeforums thread... I was arguing that anyone who wins a FREE knife should be required to hang onto it for at least six months before being allowed to sell it. If I had to sign an agreement to be stuck with the killa zilla, a knife I paid 700 bucks for, then these people shouldn't be selling their winnings for a quick profit.
I got called out and got into a big argument over those statements, and Jerry ended up saying in no uncertain terms that the knives could be sold at will, and anyone who complains about the rules can be banned from this and all future contests. I was over at BF and read that discussion. I am in agreement with you about us signing agreements for the KZ and TT Regulator. Ah well, Jerry makes the rules.

Come on, Mike. You've been around long enough to know that ordinary market dynamics don't apply to the Bussekin secondary market. If you don't like the way the secondary market in Bussekin knives operates, don't complain. Just don't buy OR SELL knives there. Problem solved. True. Another fly in the ointment is that with the new business plan is there are more knives to go around. It will take longer for the new business plan knives to appreciate--if they appreciate much at all (I bet they will, but the KZ is an example of how it could go south for turners).
