I wanted to give everyone a heads up that Dan & Patti have been without computers for the last week. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbdn.gif" alt="" /> They have lost 2 computers do to a virus and have not been able to get on the computer. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> That is why we have not heard from Dan on the forum lately! So, if you have been sending Dan or Patti any emails and have not heard back, that would be why! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" />

Major Bad Deal- two of my friends have been hit with some kind of FOTO Hotmail virus also. Hope they are back online very soon <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I feel for them. I just went through mine to erase some malware / virus junk and ended up having to reformat without a back-up disk.
Sucks.
I hope they get it straight soon and everything is okay.

Time to go to http://www.ubuntu.com/Download the CD image and put it on a CD, start the PC up and tell it to run the CD right after being powered on, A lot of the time the computer will do this automatically if a CD is in the drive, or you may have to press F12 or something similar and choose to "boot from CD". This will enable the PC to at least get on the internet in most cases, and probably do other stuff too. You could even install this to use instead of Windows, and it will not get a virus, ever. It may NOT run a lot of business software though, like quickbooks or the like.
