I am thinking about trading for a yardhook, regulator & a crash axe. Anyone here have any opinions on the yardhook or crash axe? I have read much about the regulator & am confident i'm going to like that one! any opinions/info on the other 2 appreciated. regards,SSB.

I don't have a Yard Hook, but I used to own the Swamp Rat equivalent - the mini mojo.
My main complaint was that it felt very clunky in hand, largely due to a too-heavy handle. The Yard hook, having a hidden tang and res-c handle, should fix that problem nicely.
Recurves are awesome for slashing and slicing, since they force material into the cutting edge. The mojo was surprisingly effective at small machete-like tasks, like brush slashing, due to its recurve. Not much of a chopper, but you knew that already just by looking at it.

i have a yard guard which seams to be about the same.... and i like it , its like a recurve sod.... i like the look of the crash ax , but i dont need a crash ax , now a sportsmans hatchet like the ratchet was more my speed.... if there is a bussekin combat or trail hawk i would probably go after that...
i would probably take the yard hook over the sod...

Had a yard guard and let it go in favor of the Camp Tramp. CT was lighter and cut a lot better.
The yard guard had a cool factor I liked though...

The crash axe for sure has a cool factor to it!! I had one for close to a year. It would punch holes thru metal drums, an ironing board, a car fender, etc... It even was a decent thrower!! The real issue I had with it was the lack of swell near the bottom of the handle. It is a heavy piece of equipment and when you chop with it, it has a tendancy to want to come right out of your hand. I did enjoy the time I had with it, it was a real crowd pleaser and everyone wanted to throw it or try it out. I simply found my CS Trailhawk was more of a user and the crash axe was being left at home. ![[Linked Image from i126.photobucket.com]](http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p83/Dirt_Diver/busse/Picture008.jpg)

I had a Crash Axe and like SnakeDoc said...definitely a cool factor, but the novelty sort of wore off eventually. I know rational thinking and practicality are sometimes thrown out the window when it comes to Busse and Kin knives, but I just had so many other pieces of steel that were lighter to carry that did the job of the Crash Axe as well or better that I ended up selling it to help fund my Waki purchase.
If money wasn't an issue I'd absolutely want one again, but I don't regret selling it at this point. If Dan was to offer one and I could pick it up at a factory price I might consider another axe.

With the Hook you get a very cool bottle opener . I LOVE crash axes and have several different models in all my rigs and around the shop.Out of the three you mentioned- the axe and the Regualtor are by far the most useful IMO .

The "Hook" is a little monster. I feel it can do anything and keep it in the truck for that If you like tough, it fits the bill! This was it's discription here (we drooled, like you are now ![[Linked Image from i50.tinypic.com]](http://i50.tinypic.com/23vx7xs.gif) ): -The Yard Hook features a 7 inch long blade of Scrap Yard SR 77 steel mated with a hand-filling, ergonomic Resiprene C handle. The Yard Hook is ready for heavy abuse in the harshest environment. The blade catch located in front of the integral thumb ramp provides an extra level of protection when the Yard Hook is deployed as a fighter. This wide body re-curved blade is equally effective in both a wilderness environment and a combat zone. The gentle re-curve of the primary edge has been proven throughout history to draw objects in towards the cutting edge. Specs: Overall length - 12" Blade length 7" Coated Thickness approximately .280 (1/4" - 5/16) Handle - Resiprene C Steel - SR77 ![[Linked Image from i48.tinypic.com]](http://i48.tinypic.com/o9ohao.jpg) Rainwalker (Jeff) made me this sweet Kydex sheath (after I saw Pops!) ![[Linked Image from i47.tinypic.com]](http://i47.tinypic.com/1z3w3g3.jpg) Now the "Hook" is a blade catch but with slight modifications it can be used to open bottles, understand this could reduce it's selling price. Good Luck and let us know what you get!

I like the hook, even though it's a recurve (which is usually the kiss of death for anything but a khukri). The crash axe didn't really appeal to me much, nor I believe will the regulator -- I think its too thick for me to fall in love with (and the handle didn't grab me, although it's been a while since I looked at one).
