I'd like to hear more about your method snotpig - the slight rounding you added to the choil looks great, and looks like it'd be quite comfortable.

Absolutely. It's nothing magic. I use a dremel and various sanding drums. I start with the 60 grit drums to get the 45 deg chamfers --> round out the corners with 120 grit drums --> smooth the area with 240 grit drums. Then I move to old 240 grit ones that I wore out making knives. This gives a nice satin finish. Then I slap it with some 400 grit sandpaper by hand; then, if I'm feeling froggy, I'll hit it with 1500 grit sandpaper and finally some Mother's Billet polish to get a super sheen.

This sounds labor intensive, but it usually takes longer to switch the drums than it does to actually sand the choil area.

Sounds like a plan - I have been looking for an excuse to pick up a bigger vise anyway, would be handy to hold the knife while I work on it. I was figuring I'd use my dremel to try a similar mod on one of my knives, but was wondering if there was a better way.

I don't use a vice for this. I find it easier to hold the knife in one hand and the dremel in the other. It allows me to move both pieces and roll the area better.

If you find an easier way with cheap tools, I'm all for it.

Very nice. I don't mind the thumb ramp, but if I did our mod is the answer.

The new pictures do make it look really good, Hmmm.

Since this thread, I haven't put down my S5. I carry it all over and even have it under my pillow when I sleep.

Pink, love the way you think!

I have my S5LE strapped up to my Jumbo Maxped that rides in the car just in case. Got to love the utilitarian design and usefulness of the blade and handles.

Hahah, I really mean it too. No disrespect to pitbros at all, it's just I'm aware of the dangers of sleeping with my S5, just as much as I'm aware of the dangers of riding my motorcycle and handling my handgun. I'm no danger junkie, I just love my knives, motorcycles, and guns.
