Ok so i got excited about this kit for a while now so now im going to start a rough review....

first the kit - this isnt all of it , but its your basics , fak, fishing/game, signal, fire , shelter building kit ,flash light, fire kit, all kinda compartmentalized.now that i have more space i have a few more things im waiting on to add. (going to try to update soon as it shows up)

so first impressions with the rat pack kit. this things built like a tank and heavy too. every things high quality and well put togeather. plenty of orgonization and carry options pretty adaptable as well. more then i hoped honestly. lots of mesh , lots of spots for this and that. and keep things straight.

cons
ok heres my gripe ... its to well built honestly , its dark inside and stuff gets kinda jumbled , for the size and weight of it ... there really isnt much storage space. the fire steel spacer takes a whole lotta room. and the knife sharpener in that location rubs the zipper on mine. i put that small kit inside and barely had room for many things and it was kinda iffy getting em back out and sorting threw them.

the kit i been working on is pretty simple , same stuff diffrent combo of stuff to carry with.
s5 with a spec ops packrat.

there is so much space , its easy to index , and its about the same volume as the other kit.

i love the kits , tell me what you guys think. dont get me wrong i like rat and rat products , and with tweeks i see lots of great things for the ratpack kit. but right now for me... seams heavy for what i get....

It's better to have it & not need it, than to need it & not have it.

Very nice! I have been thinking about a kit like this too. For now, I've just added a blade to a maxpedition pack and called it good.

I like that SpecOps setup. I have my Regulator in a SpecOps sheath and love the pouch but really want to set something up like this. The Regulator is my goto blade and having a survival pouch attached would make it the beesknees!

Gotta see what the new Regulator is like and get some kydex and pouch for the ultimate rig.

Me like the second one better. One of these afternoons I need to see what I can come up with for a day walk kit. My Jumbo Maxped is too big and heavy as I could use it as a two day deal.

im going to give it a fair shake , once i get some kit sorted out im going to repack them and show them both off fully packed up... might even throw in some weight etc.

its great in design as a wilderness bilfold of sorts ... but im going to see whats up and wear both out once or twice.. and maybe a few mods see if i can give a real review

OK i ran the numbers price wise and nylon to nylon ... the spec ops was twice as much to purcase at around 40$ while after subtracting the included things in the rat pack comes out around 15-20$....

I have one of those RAT Pack Kits and I have the same issues.

I'm going to get a different sheath for the RC-5 and transfer the things I like from it to my Maxped FR-1 kit I've been carrying for months.
