Anyone use a Lansky system on your yard knives? If so What angle do you use?

yes I do for most knives but oddly enough for scrapyard blades I do it freehand. Never noticed that before

I used to use this...a long time ago I did a post here on sharpening a DMDC with one...now I much prefer a cheap belt sander and good belts...
Be wary of their "claims" on angles...measure the distances and use trigonometry to judge them...40 deg inclusive works well...

I have a lansky but I have not used it in years. I also have an EdgePro and a Sharpmaker. I use the Sharpmaker sometimes on smaller blades. I don't think I have used the EdgePro in months. It's strop, belt sander or sandpaper on a mouse pad for me.

Sharpmaker and strops for me . If I need anything done on a belt sander- Jimmie ( Tolly) takes care of it . I also use the mouse pad once and awhile. I like to mess around with the hand techniques- I realize belt is faster and better for profiling- just not into that yet .

Well, never tried one. Might try someday. After using a Hell Razor with a convex today I think I am going to be a convex man from here on out--at least for a chopper.
