I was telling Tony that I have a drinking acquaintance (not really a close friend) that knows a guy who is an industrial chemical salesman that calls on Scrapyard. The acquaintance (who has a small collection of Spyderco knives) said this guy knows Dan and has actually seen some of the new knives. Naturally I called bull***t and said "right". So my acquaintance calls up the sales guy on his cell and asks him to send me some pictures. I just got home and I'll be gosh-darned if he didn't send me a picture. The quality isn't very good (camera in his cell phone I think) but it clearly shows a knife prototype called the M16. The thing looks just like an S6 only it appears to have a sharpened swedge (penetrator point). Check it out:

You guys think this might be legit? The next release of a S6-like blade with a penetrator tip/sharpened swedge. I circled the 16 on the ruler thinking this might mean 16cm, perhaps just a measurement or perhaps signifying some Euro military unit. I'm not very versed on the military side of things. Perhaps here's an outside chance this will be the knife that replaces the S6 next time up.

I think the penetrator tip would be pretty hot. I'll take it! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

You are just saying that because I am hiding and lurking just outside.

First rule of street survival: never piss off a guy with a Viking helmet carrying sharp knives <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" />

Hmmm... when you said "16" I was thinking about the world's largest chopper...

Not that I'm dissappointed... well, yes I kind of am!!

I'm thinking this might be to freshen up the S6 product for its next release. Not sure if it makes sense for people with S6s already to buy it although the M16 name is kinda cool if it sticks.

I think its old <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Unless you know otherwise.

CRKT has the "M16" and Dan may have wanted to stay more original, hence a name change to Scrapper6.

Just what I'm thinking, I have no facts behind my reasoning.

Fair point Dice, the CRKT folder was first. I was thinking that so many of the military guys seem to really like the S6 that it would just "fit". A penetrator point would be a nice upgrade if the price stayed the same.

Penetrator tip would be nice - aweful close to the DM though.
