I love my TT, so I am sure I ill love the new version too. As pointed out, the HG55 does have some of the feel to it. It is a shame that I can get a res-c handle on my HG55!

I do still like the Regulator, but... would it be blasphemy to say that the old design looked... cleaner... without the saber grind and the bigger, seemingly asymmetric (might be the photo angle) choil?

I don't want to sound negative but I love my TT version. I will wait for the specs to come out on the new regulator before I comment.
When I saw the specs for the TT version I thought "this knife is a joke, cool looking but useless." I only bought it because I never had a sr101 knife before.
After using it I can only say "I love it and will not sell it"

Does seem to be a different knife if only slightly. Time will tell as when those of us get the new one, and used our old one, can compare the two.

I don't enjoy ragging on the new design, but I just can't see the res-c guard holding up to abuse after moderate to heavy woodscraft use--even if it is reinforced on the inside. I'm also a proponent of a full flat grind for working with wood--however, if the Regulator was intended to be a fighting knife, full flat may not be the best choice. That being said, I actually like the new choil for use in detail work--seems to increase the functionality of the knife even if "looks" are sacrificed a little. Like everyone, I'm waiting for the full list of specs.

I think it's important to find a knife that fits your needs, not to try to fit the knife to them.

If you want a woods knife, the Reg may not be it. Not saying that it won't do those tasks, just that there may be another model that will better.

The SOD is fantastic as a camp knife.

However, I like collecting knives (as all of us here do) so if that's your reason for wanting the latest design I say "awesome"! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
