Is there a difference in fatwood from different trees?
The reason I ask, is that I went and got some from an old tree in my area.
It smelled the same as yours did, but BIG difference in catching on fire.
After about 15 strikes from the Light My Fire steel, the local fatwood dust
just was catching fire.
I tried some of the fatwood you sent me, and after making same size pile of
fatwood dust, it only took 3 sparks and I had a blaze going.
I'm going with my wife tomorrow on a Valentines day (Sunday) drive to find some
more fatwood and try again.

i think it depends more on the amount of resin in the wood. if more resin is present then it will catch much easier
