I'll be passing on this one, I've read alot of posts about it and everyones opinions, to me it seems like a flaw, take for example the batoning issue, place the blade on the log and start to hit the spine, well if the log is to big , you only have the tip to hit, alot of the times the blade will wanna angle down towards the force resulting in the top of the guard getting damaged, so we need to either pull the blade And start over or be a misfit and strike toward the handle area once again resulting in hitting the handle causing damage, either way it will happen, and apparently has happened.
I can see changing the choil area after tests have been made, but to change the grind? What's the point of testing if the blade geometry has changed? Maybe another test run is in order, or just pass it all off and run it? Anyway those that get the regulator have fun with it and enjoy it, I'll be sitting this one out.

Depending on price, I might get it - the lack of changes to the guard obviously bugs me, but I can cut the top guard off and make it more like the sod, or pull the handle and add a metal guard on my own.
The grind change I'm not a huge fan of, but Dan's reasoning for the change is good and it will be interesting to try the two side by side. The difference will likely be much like the difference between the cg and le sod. The addition of the rounded spine, however, might go a long way toward making up for the change in the grind. I love love love rounded spines because I do a lot of batoning.
At the right price, ill slice the guard ff a regulator and not think twice

That's a good idea MM. Never thought of changing the handle out, and a pretty simple mod to boot.

I'll be inI for as many as I can afford. Which may be something like 2...
I like the changes and I'm not much into overthinking stuff like this. I didn't like the handle until I actually handled the TTRB and with the changes I don't even think there's a issue for me any more.
I hope the price is right because I would like to get a few.

So do you guys have an idea of how much you'd be willing to pay for a Regulator if you're going to mod it? not more than $100 to make changes myself, although I still will be sitting it out even if it's $100.

Once the final specs are out I will make my mind up. However right now I am leaning towards buying one, if for no other reason then seeing how the changes affect the knife. I love my TT regulator so we'll see

I can't blame you for passing on it as that's certainly your prerogative however I have no such plans. I will certainly get one or two, price permitting.
For me, I have no intention of batoning with a bowie style knife -- if I'm going to baton I'd like to use something like a chopper. As many have stated this is a fighter type knife I believe.
Regardless, if my thought is "let's go chop some wood" I'm NOT going to reach for the bowie! I understand the mentality of "I want this knife to do everything I want it to do" but the fact is that certain designs will just not be as good as other designs will be at certain things.
For instance if I need to STAB something, I'm not going to reach for the chopper. If I need to baton, I'm not going to reach for the bowie. Etc.
