I've spent time batoning wood (firewood and scrap lumber) with one of my TT Regulators several times specifically for testing and other times just because it was what I had on my belt. However, the Res-C remains unharmed.

I HOPE that this question will soon die! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crossfingers.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" /> For what it's worth, I dropped my Crowell/Barker bowie on my garage apron and chipped a small piece off the handle, and it's made of micarta. "Stuff" happens guys! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

Ya need to send that knife down to me Tom and I'll use it for ya <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />- you don't want a knife with damaged scales. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

I have a simple question about the Reg as "a fighter." If this is to be such and not a "camp knife" as some have proposed, to misquote the Joker, "why so thickness?" I mean, all that weight it will be slower in hand (likely blade heavy which is the opposite of what I would think would be desirous for a fighter), I thought the whole point of a Bowie is quick, snapping back cuts (thin blade would be better here too I would think) and a pointy point for thrusts. But at 1/3in thick, seems to me to be counter productive. This is not to say that I don't like the Reg, the guard or any other aspect. More of just a clarifying question for those "right tool for the job" types who say this is clearly "a fighter" more than anything else. Thanks.

The Regulator is whatever YOU want it to be, just like "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I wanted to pass on the Regulator even when the test team specs and pics was all we had, but I'm actually warming up to the design and may get one just to have it. In fact that seems pretty likely right now <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Chopping and batoning doesn't do anything for me at the moment, so I wouldn't get this particular knife for those purposes anyway. Hell, if I got it, it would probably just get to sit on my shelf. I still think the S5 is the best all-round knife I have (which is why I have 3, just in case, never did that before with any knife).

That's what's interesting, a hard use quick in the hand fighter type blade that's gets tested then changed to a sabre grind obviously gonna be heavier and slower but more capable of chopping and prying type blade. Sure a few will find a good place for it to fit in somewhere, but I'd be trying to concentrate on knocking the dogfather off it's pediastal, production run something like that and make it semi affordable and it's a win win, forever, the reg to me is just a ho-hum blade that will just be stuck at middle ground , something the SOD has already mastered, good In every catagory as far as a midsize feild blade gos. The muk was a great outcoming, along with the S5 CG. The only shining thing on the reg I can point out is it's just a new release to feed the crowd nothing more nothing less

If the price is right it will still sell despite the confusion of it's purpose. I mean...it's a knife. It's for cutting stuff, for stabbing stuff, and for fun. For me that's good enough. Anything else it can do, chopping baton etc is just a bonus. I buy a knife because it's a knife.
