"The Regulator is whatever YOU want it to be, just like "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"."
Yeah, I get that. Again, my question was not meant to be a knock at the design at all. Just a question for those who are saying it IS a fighter. I like the reg myself, but while the profile looks like a fighter, I am having a hard time seeing as being primarily that.
"I can't speak for the new Regulator, damon, but I was surprised by how well balanced and quick in the hand the TT Regulator was when I inspected Seth's Reg at Blade West. That's why I'm interested in finding out what the weight difference is between the TT Reg and the Production Reg. (PS: Dan said he'd check that out and let us know.)"
Yeah, that is what I heard too about the TT, that it felt so well balanced and quick in hand. The weight/balance specs are also items that I am very interested in hearing too.
"I still think the S5 is the best all-round knife I have..."
I agree with you 100%. I don't have too many SYs but I do have the ss4, ss5, muk and have used the SOD. Have to say, the S5 is by far and away the best all-around knife I have...even did a review on this site to that effect!
...and I will likely buy a reg

That's what's interesting, a hard use quick in the hand fighter type blade that's gets tested then changed to a sabre grind obviously gonna be heavier and slower but more capable of chopping and prying type blade. Sure a few will find a good place for it to fit in somewhere, but I'd be trying to concentrate on knocking the dogfather off it's pediastal, production run something like that and make it semi affordable and it's a win win, forever, the reg to me is just a ho-hum blade that will just be stuck at middle ground , something the SOD has already mastered, good In every catagory as far as a midsize feild blade gos. The muk was a great outcoming, along with the S5 CG. The only shining thing on the reg I can point out is it's just a new release to feed the crowd nothing more nothing less I thought the same until I actually got this beast in my hands .As a matter of fact I didn't really like it at all. At that price and in 101 it is [censored] hard to beat. As for knocking off the DF to me is very doubtful. As for the S5 and the MUK those are just plain awesome IMO .My TTs are staying right here and when Dan gets these new ones out i am seeing my collection growing even more . I am thinking spring until we actaully have these in our hands . Might be the only knife we get from the yard with all the military needs. Let's hope we see em real soon

I'm always comparing the feel in my hand of the Reg v/s the SOD. The blades are virtually the same length. The Reg is thicker but the SOD is wider. The balance point of the Reg seems to be about where my index finger rests on the handle. The SOD feels much more blade heavy than the Reg with the balance further forward. The thicker handle with the balance point makes the Reg unbelievably nimble feeling for such a sizable knife. I wonder what the weight difference between the two is...

"The Regulator still SCREAMS fighter to me." I hear you. Again, by looking at it, I wholeheartedly agree...it is just the thickness that is throwing me off. But I do really love the "steep" clip point on it, and while some have compared it to the HG5 (I think that was the knife), the reg is more appealing to me as it just looks much more aggressive. I think I am one of those (few) who would rather see it thinner rather than thicker, but that is just MO and I think I will buy one either way. My question regarding the thickness of a fighter was not to be difficult, just more along the lines of trying to see where people were coming from by saying that it was "soup to nuts" a fighter and not a camp knife. As far as sending some to military units...just makes me very hopeful that my beloved sage/green color combo will be available as it is by far the best match to ABUs/ACUs. Not that I will be sporting it in uniform...not too sure my superiors would approve ![[Linked Image from i7.photobucket.com]](http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y258/damonstage/DSC05152.jpg)

Thick blades = greater injury, on the fighter topic. Gaping wound, more damage, more trauma, harder to staunch bleeding etc. would you rather be stabbed with a razor thin blade, or a huge 1/4" thick blade. imagine thrusting into a slab of meat. think about bullet calibers.
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, if you don't take it out and use it, it's going to rust.

Inside each knife is a new adventure waiting to be had...maybe some blood and probably some suture.
