I love the DFLE <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />. I had heard all the posts about DFLE vs DFCG and I already had two CGs. So- I bought the DFLE and quickly understood what Vic and others were raving about <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />. Don't get me wrong- the CG is great...........but the LE is just that much better. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Nice double score! I sure wish we see another release of the DFLE or something else long and thin in Res-C some day. I ended up getting the BWM because the secondary price of the DFLE was getting so [censored] close to the BWM shop price. In the mean time, a user in decent condition sounds like a great score to me!

I have been fighting off the idea if the BWM becuase I haven't used my DDF yet. I'm feeling the pressure right now and as soon ad some funds clear I'm getting me a BWM I hope.

Nice comparison pic's SD .... the DFLE weighs in at 17 oz's and the BWM LE 23 oz's .... I am waiting on mine .... but having used my DFLE a lot I would expect it might eclipse the BWM CG which comes in at 21oz's on chopping by having a heavier blade ... the LE though I am not sure of ... that should be closer ... if you want to do a test and pic's I for one would welcome your thoughts ....

There are no "bad practical reports" IMO .... you use them and your "take on it" would be valued by me ...

I chose not to buy the BWM LE, but to get two BWMs instead. I did a ghetto satin full convex grind on one of them. But it cannot compare to your beautiful new BWMLE. Congrats!

HM customs are probably playing with your BWM LE as we speak.

Well I like HD's CG conversion as well .... very much infact ... I am going to move on some steel to balance the books on getting a BWM CG and an LE ... I don't usually spend like this but from the factory you get the chance to buy as cheap as they usually go .... and these two knives are very good for light weight "users" ... I got both for cheaper than the SHBM's are on the exchange ... and they are the cheapest they have ever been ... they used to be nearly $2000 <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />... and the BWM LE has to be very close to one of those ... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I have some nice knives from UK custom Bushcrafter makers and a spare Hossom XXL Retribution which I hope will easily move ... we will see ... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crossfingers.gif" alt="" />

There are some "cracking" knives though which have recently come out .... the BWM CG spec is something we have all wanted for ages ... no wonder HD got two <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

@HornDog No doubt - that "Ghetto Satin" looks like it comes out of a pretty nice ghetto!

The grind vs. weight geometry thing always gets me sideways, for example i got my DFCG at the same time as the irresistably cheap KaBar "Large Heavy Bowie", a blade close in size to the DF but thinner and full-flat ground, and another person and i both felt that when it came to chopping wood, the DFCG was a little slower, maybe not as agressive, and the DFCG actually took some edge damage while the KaBar in 108X steell didn't (very minor - not even the width of the edge bevel), maybe because of the DF blade's greater weight and hence more force on the edge while chopping?
When i got the DFLE it eclipsed both knives at hacking wood, in me and this other person's opinion. Not to disparage the DFCG at all - this is just one very narrow, specific task: crosscut chopping through pine; that didn't even involve splitting, prying, or batoning through car door hinges - for all of which i'd put my dough on the DFCG. The tree was dirty, too, so a little rock or sand may have caused the damage - which was really interesting looking, by the way. It showed a cracking/flaking type injury running along the edge a few milimeters on either side of about a 1mm diameter dent in the edge itself. Pretty interesting. I fixed it with my DMT stones and haven't had any repeats - but i've never seen metal behave that way. Makes me wish i had tried to photograph it. You do get the odd occasional damage to a knife when using them ... the good news is that you "simply fixed it" ... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I just put my first edge on my DFLE ... I used the factory edge till it was truly "dull" ... but it was like an "Axe" ... not sharp but still able to chop wood well ... that edge lasted nearly two years on just chopping duty ... it is tough stuff SR77 ... Axe heads are made from S7 and you can see why ...

My new edge is a convex one ... used a belt sander and a few different belts and stropped it and it is ready to go .... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Some good reading here. Just makes me want a DFLE even more.
