I like the Regulator with the full double guard, but I really don't need one. I have a pile of 7" combat knives. And my SOD LE fills that size SY knife well for my uses, not being a combat soldier.
I'm in the same boat. Except I've got a Camp Tramp instead of a SOD LE. But I just LOVE fighters. Problem is, I've got my eye on another one right now and I'm not sure if I can afford it and a Regulator too.

Decisions, decisions . . .

We can't buy them all, Bruce. I am hoping the new Busse Apollo 7 is not too expensive. But I have no need of it, either. It just looks so good to me. If I were a soldier looking for a great combat knife at a good price, the Regulator would be my choice.

Yeah it seems a jack of all trades knife...not as good a chopper as a dedicated chopper, not as good a fighter as a dedicated fighter, but better at the opposing than either specialized knife would be.

Either way I dig it and I have no doubt that it would make an effective chopper...over 1/4" thick and 7 inches long SR101 may not be a dogfather/battlerat/whatever but it will do in a pinch.

Plus I just can't restate how many times I'm amazed by the fact that I can pick this knife up, with a sheath, WITH THE SCRAPYARD WARRANTY/GUARANTEE...for 100 bucks and change. oO

Yeah it's ridiculous. It would literally cost me more to get a sog seal pup elite than this. And while I have absolutely nothing against sog, I can tell you which my guess is would be the sturdier more hardcore knife...

Do we have a rough day that the deal will be available?

Like some classic American military fighting knives, the Regulator is a combat/utilty type knife. Lets face it, most combat knives end up getting used for chores other than stabbing the enemy, although the Regulator seems plenty up to that chore, too. If I were a soldier, I'd much rather carry the Regulator than some stiletto style dagger.

Yeah no joke...when I was in the military I most certainly beat the crap out of every knife I had (I had lots of brands too, all the major ones you'll find in the more commercial stores) and most of them couldn't hold up to everything I needed/wanted them to do. A lot of the time in the field your knife becomes stuff other than a knife but you still don't want it to be near-machete length because then it gets to hard to move around with.

I broke countless knives and dulled them super fast (admittedly I abused a few of them pretty badly).

I carried a Ka-Bar style Camillus and somtimes the pilots survival knife when I was with the AF in the war. Naturally, I broke a few of them sticking them and prying open ammo boxes. Later, when I was an Army tank platoon leader, I carried a Gerber Mk II dagger, because as a LT I could afford one and it looked cool. I broke it in a life and death struggle with a book shelf in my BOQ. Alcohol was involved. We didn't have Busses or Scrappers back then.

When I was in the Army I carried the mark II as well. I really wish we had the Bussekin knives back then as well. I still have my Mk-II

I broke a bunch of gerbers, lost my sog (the kydex sheath they gave you back then was really bad, terrible retention on your belt), etc etc. Nothing could stand up to my "rigorous" testing of actually being able to survive a few months time in the field.

Some normal bushcrafter type knife users have no idea how much abuse soldiers give their knives. Busse knows, and Busse-made knives are built for the military. That Regulator will be a popular knife with the combat troops, I'm betting.

If I was back in service I believe I would want the Regulator with the modified handle. It is light, quick, strong, and unbelieveably tough! And I have a LOT of Bussekin blades to choose from!
