Thoughts on a BOB. The BOB itself that is. Alice pack, MOLLE, hikers backpack, school book backpack, etc. Which is the better pack to keep stowed in your vehicle.
Thanks

I favor the School and or hiker packs because they don't say "hay look para-military nut job" or "check it out I gots lots expensive out-door stuff"
Edit:(Not too say all military type packs say that, or that I jugde that)

I used my kids school backpacks for years. Then I kept seeing all those cool Maxpedition bags and all, and I got myself a proper man purse. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I like the idea of a less expensive school backpack, but don't want to sacrifice long range comfort and/or durability. I'm not worried about freaking people out over a military type because when it's time to actually use the BOB, I don't think anyone would notice or give a crap. They'll be too busy. No one will see it on a day to day basis, as it (hopefully) will be gathering dust in my trunk.

I use these Stanley rolling tool boxes. I have one set up with about 3 days worth of food and water. I also have another set up with ammo and other gun stuff. `If SHTF it will be much easier to just grab and go.
If i need to scout or go scavenging i have a Maxpedition Roly Polly Extreme. I still need a big pack tho i think im gonna get a Snug Pak Rocket Pack in OD.

I have a couple "school" packs that I use, or a large Camelback pack. I really want a nice frame supported one to use for longer trips. I also have a Max Jumbo that is good for day walks.

The back packs from Bug Out Gear are a good choice. Picked up a couple at the last NRA convention, and have been satisified with thier performance to price ratio. Trying to put the finishing touches on a couple of Get Home Bags after being reinspired by these forums.

I keep a Kelty Redwing 3100 in my wifes car and One for me in whatever rig I'm in. Its an internal frame pack that looks like a typical daypack. Its pretty comfortable. I use it mostly as a winter survival pack so It has more than the usual stuff in it.

Whatever brand,it needs to be a back pack to free up your hands.
