Hi, guys!
How is the seal between the handle and the tang on Scrapyards? Is it a friction fit, or is there some kind of epoxy or treatment to act as a seal? Has anyone ever heard of water migration under the handle and/or rust? Is it something to take precautions with, if you have a Scrapyard knife that you get wet at times?
No issues with this; just wondering if it's something to watch. I use a number of my Scrapyards and will wash them with soap/water...they end up getting quite wet. I usually put a blob of grease right at the joint as a precaution; but I can't on the ones I cut food with. So, I was just wondering if anyone else thought about that.
Thanks!

BK86 - Howdy and Welcome to the Scrap Yard! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> I believe the Res-C is friction fit, if I remember correctly from previous threads. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Welcome BK86. I believe they are friction fit. I don't know if water migration is a problem or not.I haven't heard anyone mention it in my short time here.

Welcome to the Yard BlackKnight sounds like the addiction has hit you already.
I have never had an issue with fluid seeping under the handle, always been a real tight fit. I beleive there were some Scrapper4s that had a "gap" in the handle, besides not looking as pretty as others, I don't think there was any other problems.
Remember SYKCO has a great warrenty and if something happened I'm sure Dan would make it right.

Friction fit, I've removed res-c handles from blades before, but trust me, it ain't easy. Even with the tubing removed, you still need to clamp down the blade with a vice and tap out the handles. It isn't going anywhere.

I'm sure the chances of water migrating into the tang opening of the Res-C handle would be like trying to jam a wet noodle up a tiger's a#@.
If it happens and causes any damage, it's clearly defective and Dan would make it right.
