Hi all.

have used the CGDF for a few days and love the beast .. it has chopped everything i wanted to and even cut a chunk out of a metal door lock by accident ( i was attempting to cut a swinging rope )

i wanted to give Dan some user feedback.. just two things really.. on th LE .. can we have a sharpened swedge, is it possible to make the handle thicker and slightly longer (where have i heard that before )

cheers

ug

A sharpened clip would be nice. Also, a nice flat grind, ala the SBR.
Otherwise, the knife is perfect. Those would be minor improvements to a nearly perfect offering.

If it has a sharpened swedge I am at risk bringing it anywhere but on my own property here in Texas. A sharpened swedge would reclassify it from a hunting/fishing/sporting tool to a dagger under Texas knife law and could have legal consequences for me or loss of the knife depending on how aggressive the law enforcement officer wanted to be.

I would respectfully request that the swedge NOT be sharpened.

I have no problem with the DF as it is. Every attempt I have seen to make a do "eveything well" knife has been a failure IMO. A sharpened swedge would limit its use in batonning large pieces of wood. The DF is a big heavy chopper/survival knife. If SYKCO makes a true fighting bowie, it should be thinner, lighter, faster with a sharpened swedge. That is my 2 cents.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

I concur with Horn Dog.. if it ain't broke.. don't fix it

imo.. sharpened swedges are pretty specialized for fighters and such.

However.. my hands are medium so the DF handle fits me fine.. but i'm a little surprised more Large-handed folks haven't said anything about the handle. iirc only a couple folks have said DF's handle is a bit on the narrow side..

dunno if it's just me.. but i've found that overly Thick handles tend to give me arm pump during long term chopping, faster than they'll give me callouses.

No, Texas has some bizarre edged weapon laws. Bowie knives > 5.5" are illegal for example. Given the history of that knife type in this state you would have different expectations. I suspect it is a very old law from the day when a lot of carnage was done with Bowie knives.

There is no political capital in championing revised knife laws so there we sit.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

The same design with a satin finish and a logo on it would be frame worthy!

You could always put a double-edged swedge on it yourself, ugug. I may put a little "penetrator point" on mine, like the Dumpster Mutt has. Makes slide right through those beer cans. I am eagerly awaiting the DFLE.
