First off, hiya! You guys might have a fellow scrapyard dog on your hands here. But I had a question. See I can't really afford a regulator right now, I have a Credit card but buying one would be a little painful, but from everything I read and find, it's exactly the type of knife I want. A beast of a knife that can survive going to hell and back without needing to be babied. I want to use it! I want to abuse it! For prince/quality, everything seems to scream Regulator. But from my research, I know there are a few differences between the sr-101 steel used in the regulator and the sr-77 used in the Scrapper 6. I don't actually own any knives at the moment, but I do want a rugged survival knife that wont fail me when I need it most. I like the good stuff, especially if my life may depend on it one day. What sold me on the Scrap Yard knives is the destruction test of the Scrapper 6 here: http://www.knifetests.com/scrapyardscrapper6test.html

So my question is how well does the design and the steel of the Regulator compare to the Scrapper 6? Is it tougher or more fragile? Which holds a better edge? I can't get a Scrapper 6, but I most certainly plan on getting a Regulator, but my aforementioned financial situation makes me a little hesitant. The only reason I'm considering it is because once the Regulators done production, it's gone, for good, and it's exactly what I want. So any enlightenment on the comparison would be most appreciated to anyone who takes the time to reply to humble ol me.

Welcome to the Yard. I don't have a S6 but I have a TT Regulator and am waiting on my Regulator and Dergulator to get here soon. I have knives in SR77 and 101. I find the 77 dulls a bit quicker than 101 but it does sharpen easier. Both steels offer above and beyond performance. I say grab a Regulator if you can, especially with the deal right now since it has a sheath for 10 bucks.

Place your order for your Regulator just as soon as you can my friend! You seriously can't go wrong with that baby! If circumstances & finances allow in the future you might just see a Scrapper 6 offered on BF or similar. I own the S6 (& love it) but no one should pass on a Regulator! (I've got a Reg on it's way to me)
The Regulator is the best deal to come out of "The Yard" since time began : )
Now, email Renee with your order!

I so want one now :P

One quick question though, how does the Canadian shipping charge work? It says 10$ so is that automatically tacked on if I put my address as in Canada or do I have to add it to the cart? Would that mean that the order would be 135$? 110$ for knife and sheath and 25$ for the shipping to Canada? Sounds a little easier on the budget then what I originally figured...

Hi Skrunks,
You will have to add the Canadian Shipping to your shopping cart which will combine at the checkout out with Scrap Yards normal shipping charge

I had to add International as I'm across the Pond

Go on, you will not reget buying your first Scrap Yard Knife , esp the Regulator!

Welcome to the Yard by the way!

Cheers, JB

Get a Regulator it is amazing! The SR101 holds a heck of an edge and sharpens quickly, you can't go wrong with it!

Welcome to the Yard too.

Skrunks, don't give in to peer pressure.

But make sure to buy a regulator.

Get both

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, if you don't take it out and use it, it's going to rust.

I have to agree, get the Regulator or Deregulator while they are in the store, you can always have fun hunting down a S6 on the aftermarket later. Don't miss out on a great knife at a great price

Skrunks - Howdy and Welcome to the Scrap Yard! The S-6 and Regulator are both GREAT knives, and I have both. I would recommend that you get a Regulator while it is available and at a phenomenal price! My fellow Dogs are NOT "yanking your leash" - they offer good advice!

WELCOME - I have both and love both. But- the Reg is a pure animal IMO . Just a brute of a knife that I am strapping to my pack to use- putting one in my rigs and maybe one for a house knife. At that price for both knife and pants- it is a no brainer
