Got home from work today and waiting for me was my Deregulator, so of course I had to do a quick side by side compare with my satin TT regulator
Fist impression if the Dereg looks meaner and more aggressive than the TT, I gave both silimar edges (sharp but not hair popping) heres a few pics

ON TO THE CHOP OFF
First the Dereg after 10 chops to this 2 x 10

The TT after 10 chops

The Dereg after 10 more

All in all they both seemed to perform fairly close with an edge going to the Dereg for the extra weight
Now, choking up on the blade is where the Dereg really shines, I can get way up on it it need be without the top guard

The TT while not bad, doesn't let you get in as tight

Both stabbed well and about the same, hand was very secure on the knife

This picture is very telling of the feel of both knives, I placed them both on the choils and 5 times out of 5 they ended up like this

I love the removed top guard on the Dereg, and while it has lost a bit of the excellent balance that the TT has, The choil and thumb ramp make up for it.

Thanks for the review. I like the new SY logo, hope all the future stuff have that.

That choil is UGLY but I think it is going to make a big difference in functionality. I could do some fine work when choking up on my TT Reg but that shallow choil scared me and didn’t allow for the best grip. I would like to see this rounded/asymmetric style choil in future SYKCO big blades.

Thanks for the quick review.

Yeah, the choil kinda adds to the aggressive feel of the blade, but it is very secure feeling. Yeah, it not like the TT is hard to choke up on, but the dereg is easier

Thanks for posting these...I finally pulled the trigger and ordered a DeReg. Fighters in general don't really appeal to me and I'd been on the fence about this blade since it was announced...but there's so much positive feedback from you folks who have one that I knew I'd kick myself if I didn't get in on them at factory prices.

Nice review JRod - I had very similiar results but I do like how fast in hand the TT is .Don't get me wrong-I love the new one- just something about that flat grind and how fast in hand the TT is. Now-I need to strip one of each and see which I want to carry full time on my pack. This is one hell of a defense knife IMO - Thanks Again

The Dereg is definatly more forward weighted than the TT version. The rounded spine on the dereg is a NICE touch!
