I have made a ton of suggestions in the past...... But, I will go ahead and chime in again and even throw out another along with the popular requests for a BIG 12"+ chopper.......
Full flat, drop point, satin chopper.
The end.

+1 - something along those lines.....
A Dog father re-release or a improved version with the reg handle.
Cool, but how about 2" - 3" longer and a bit thinner so as to not get monster heavy. Keep weight to about 20 - 23 ounces tops.
Go big 12" full flat satin with regulator handle sr ......
- 101
A larger DogFather with a Dereg handle and larger Regulator. When in doubt...GO BIG!
Yep - and the Regulator's handle is just VERY WELL suited for big choppers. I think the Regulator is about as small a blade as the handle is suited for - all else - BIGGER on that handle!
Go big 12" full flat satin with regulator handle sr.....
Be the first Big Dawg
OOOOOH call it the Big Dawg
I would be fine with that name.
3) Maybe you could do a "World Chopper Series"? Take some chopper blade types from around the world and re-do them with Sr77/Sr101 (Or INFI for some LEs) and Res-C for chopping strength and comfort. You could do goloks, machetes, barongs, etc, etc, ...
I like the idea MORE Choppers based on World Class chopper designs. The competition knife designs used by the competitive users are VERY GOOD designs. In competition, they cut a NICE diversified variety of stuff: 2x4's, hanging rope, cardboard tubes, delicate straws, etc. to prove all-around performance. I love watching the videos.
Check out "Some" of the various competitions videos at
Bladesports.org See videos of events:
Bladesports.org - Past Events videos , but I doubt Dan and Jerry would likely refer to them as the "World Chopper Series". They don't like to imply in ANY way as to "Copy" other designs. Even if about every knife made at this point mostly resembles something already made at some point. Still Most designs take "General" features from existing designs. This is just reality.
*** However, One significant drawback to "Many" of the competition knives now being used is lack of a usable point. In competition, one thing they don't use it the point. So, to keep maximum weight forward and knives within specs, they tend to get very square or blocky at the tip of the blades in these competitions. For "Real World" field use and such, I like to maintain "Some" tip for digging into various things I need a tip to get into. For a chopper, I don't need a long narrow pointy tip like on the Regulator. Just a bit of a functional one - Such as on some of the leaf shaped blades shown below or Goloks shown further below.
I am still holding out for a bigger chopper, be it golok, parang, bolo, khukri, or bowie. Something big!
Yep again!
Regulator handle on a "leaf blade" - sort of a wide dagger, 7'ish inches of blade. Available in CG and LE.
T
YEEEEEESSSSS - I LOVE Leaf blade shapes - They are great for "Woods" use. Great for chopping, good spine for batoning and usable point!
I would like the Scrapweiler with about an 8 inch blade though. Search for Scrapweiler with the search tool - I LOVE Leaf shape. Change out the handle to put on the Regulator handle on the Scrapweiler - AND MAKE MINE SATIN - PLEEEEEEEASE!
...... Then make about a 12" - 13" version.
Light and fast chopper on the order of the Bushwacker Mistress. Makes perfect sense to have res-c on a chopper like that.
Yes, but even longer to about 12" - 13" blade would be AWESOME!
With the Res-C and hidden tang saving about 2-4 ounces in the handle, the weight could be redistributed forward to gain MORE CHOPPING POWER while still being very nimble in the hand and not too heavy.
The Bushwacker weighs about 22.0 ounces. I would want to keep a 12" - 13" Scrap Yard Big chopper close to 20 - 23 ounces.
I'd like something 12"-16", not as tall as usual. light and fast like the BRKT golok, but with a useable point and res-c
Yeeeeeesssssss..... I know what you are saying. I FEEEEEL your need. 16" might be a bit long considering a Waki has a 17" blade. I want a 1 handed blade and keep weight down for control. The BRKT Golok is:
BRKT - Golok = 17.5 ounces; 0.210” thick; 11.5” blade; 17.5” oal
I like all this talk about a 12" blade. And I think the new Regulator Res-C handle is HIGHLY suited as a CHOPPER handle.
I would like 12" - 13" blade, BUT not too heavy or too thick.
I think if the blade is kept at about 0.1875" - .20" a good weight and balance could be acheived that is easy to carry, fast and nimble in the hand and yet still a VERY powerful chopper if with a 12" - 13" blade.
I think some weight saving could be achieved along with creating more forward/heavy chopping power by having the blade height closer to the handle narrower. The DFLE is about 1.75" tall blade near the choil. The Regulator is about 1.625" tall blade near the choil.
The Bark River Golok is about 1.125" tall blade near the choil and only about 1.33" tall at most.
I think a Scrap Yard design with a blade height near the choil of about 1.25" - 1.375" or so that tapers up to about 1.8" - 1.9" or so would be pretty cool.... with similar blade shapes to the blades shown below.
I would love to photo-chop some ideas together....., but unfortunately told not to.
However, hopefully it is OK to post some other made knives to help get my point across if pics and photo-shop is not wanted (??????)
I like the following Bowie/Bolo/Competition Chopper styled blades - The following blade "Shapes" with about a 12" - 13" blade, 0.1875" - .20" thick and the Regulator handles - Hopefully, would stay around 21 - 23 ounces or so (????):
JNeilson's Competition Chopper:
Bark River Rio Grand Bowie:
Dan Farr Competition Chopper:
The above blades at about 12" - 13" would be AWESOME on a Regulator handle!!!!
-------------------------------------
I STILL like some of the ideas I have tossed out in the past. Scrapweiler with the Regulator handle would be awesome along with a Scrap Yard Mega-Muk would rank among my top wishes. Some sort of 12" - 13" Parang or Golok would be cool as well. etc.
I'd like something 12"-16", not as tall as usual. light and fast like the BRKT golok, but with a useable point and res-c
Yes, I love a good golok!
+1
+1 - If done right. I have seen MANY variations on the Parang (same with the Golok actually). There are just MANY variations of both - to the point where some Goloks look like Parangs and some Parangs look like Goloks (?????). I think a Scrap Yard beefed up version of something along the lines of the Martindale Golok #2 would be cool. And I have seen quite a few variations along those lines that I like a lot. - Most of which I would call a Golok. Key for me would be to have a shallow edge belly (not too much edge curve), a little bit of tapered weight with a narrower height blade near the handle, tapered to a bit taller blade towards the tip, but still have a bit of a usable tip.... again, I would LOVE to photo-chop some ideas... but....
If I can't do a photo-chop, the hopefully an "idea" of the blade shape from these pics:
Again, about a 12" - 14" blade on something like above - with the Regulator handle - would be a VERY awesome and usable tool - if kept closer to 0.1875" thick so as to be fast and nimble in the hand. With the forward balance from the blade shape, and a bit heavier than a typical 0.1" - 0.12" or so Martindale, the Scrap Yard version would have a LOT of chopping power. Again, I would hope to keep weight to around 20 - 23 ounces tops.
-------
Sneaky - Nice work. I personally am not so big on big Clips in my blade. I don't need a massive James Bowie fighter. I like my TT Regulator, but I would prefer a leaf shaped blade like the Scrapweiler - for my uses - woods, camp, trail, etc. To me, the top sketch is a massive Bowie Fighter styled design. Many might like such a knife. Many probably prefer the looks and aesthetics of it. The lines are pretty classic. But, while it can chop - like the Regulator "can" chop, that BIG "Clip" at the front of the blade compromises much of what "COULD" be better chopping ability and batoning ability for in the field use by having the clip. Having the clip provides a bit more neutral balance and more piercing penetration - of a fighter. But, it is a compromise that I don't need. - I am not personally looking for a large fighter. If the blade had more mass towards the tip with a spine more suited and functional for field use, it would be a better chopper, better at batoning (especially without a false edge) and better for all-around "Field" use that I would personally prefer.
The "2nd/bottom" sketch in the pic offers a lot of promise. I would probably tweak a few things for my preferences. But, it is close to what I have in mind based on the above Martindale Golok ideas.
I don't mind a "False" edge at the point of that 2nd blade, but I would not want it sharp. Otherwise, I think it could be/would be a very functional field chopper and tool.
Yea something big and heavy that chops.
my ideas:
western style bowie chopper
reverse tanto chopper

SR-77 please
------------------------------------------
I "Like" SR-77. It is amazingly tough. But, I still prefer SR-101 quite easily.
I like a good machete. But, the one of the main problems with machetes is their lack of ability to hold a good edge. I value a knives ability to hold a good edge. While SR-77 holds an edge a lot better than most any machete, SR-101 holds and edge "Noticeably" better than SR-77. SR-101 is PLENTY tough. I wish SR-101 was as corrosion resistant as INFI, but it is not. Still, I can deal with rust. And I still like my edges to stay sharp. Further, SR-101 prices are VERY comparable to SR-77 prices. The Regulator was very well priced. So, I don't think there is any real significant price benifit with SR-77. So, I still prefer SR-101 over SR-77 for my requests...... Actually, I "PREFER" INFI, but I guess Dan can't put INFI on every knife and keep the prices the same.
