I wasn't satisfied with the retention of my Regulator sheath with the snaps unfastened. So I made a kydex insert. I used chicago screws to fasten it and then removed the second snap strap.

I wanted to be able to mount it upsidedown on my work in progress Walter Mitty tac vest. Turns out it is a little long, to where it would be difficult to shoulder a long gun on the weak shoulder and may allso interfere with handgun or pouch placement underneath. oh well I'll figure that out later.

I like it. I noticed you removed one set of snaps, I have been considering doing that too. Honestly IMO outside of jumping (which I don't do) I think the single snap would be just fine to hold it in.

Yes, it is easier to grab a hold of and unsnap. And if I felt the need of imediate use, it will retain the knife without the strap snapped.

Great idea! Just got the same LBT vest and have been toying with some ideas on how to configure it.

That's a great looking Kydex insert and very functional.

One thing I do on some sheaths is run a length of cord through the eyelets near the top of the sheath. Then add a cord lock with a knot to prevent the cord lock from coming all the way off. The cord can be tightened around the handle to provide retention and also allow quick removal with one hand.

Locate it upside down, strong side, just behind your lats, low enough to draw.

Now THAT'S Walter Mitty'ing it up, yo. LOL

Thanks DennisinMA,
I tried your suggestion. Flipped the insert over, so the edge will face left. Can reach it pretty good, but not if I get any fatter... Can't reinsert too easily. Need the help of a trusted friend...lol..
Think I need to order up some tan Kydex and make a cross draw that can be reached from either side.
