Hi, I will have my first Scrapyard knife in a few days : a Scrapper 6. I Have a question : does the Scrapper-6 has the same lateral strength of the Dog Father? Does it has the same handle? ( web page).

Welcome to the Yard, I am happy for you, I think my S6 is still about my favorite Scrapyard. Yes the handle is the same as on the Dog Father. I would have to say the lateral strength is going to differ a tiny bit form the DogFather while the thicknesses (.275) and material (SR-77 or S7) are the same the blade's cross-sections differs the Dogfather is saber ground while the Scrapper6 has a full height grind. And if you some how break it you are covered by the most open warranty anyway.

Same handle, ok. Thanks. And does the Heat Treat and Tempering process between SR-77 and SR-101 are the same? Does SR-77 heat treat is differential? Can you see a temper line, like on a Ratweiler, if you put some vinegar on a Scrapper-6?
Many thanks!

I can't answer the tempering question but with regard to strength I can vouch that I've used my S6 as a pry bar, screwdriver, trim removal tool, brick splitter, wood splitter, and even a knife and its still in one piece. I would be shocked if it broke without using some kind of machine to intentionally break it.

Hayduke, The Busse family of knives (Busse Combat knife Co., Swamp Rat Knife Works, and Scrap Yard Knife Co.) are all located in the same shop in wasssuen(sp?)OH. I imagine they all receive a similar heat treat, but may not the same as INFI, 52-100 and S7 are all different steels with different cooking times and temps for opium performance. Most (if not all I think but I could be wrong) of the Scrapyard knives, including your new Scrapper 6, have through hardened with no temper line, perhaps S7 doesn't need/benefit from it? but the 52-100 Ratwiler (super sexy knife by the way) apparently gets more performance out of it.

here is my S6 after helping a buddy with a '72 Bronco lift where the S6 was used to pry and cut out the old spacers out and cut through at least one rusty bolt, With all by body weight(230-ish lbs) I was prying down with my S6 so my buddy could jam a screwdriver in the hole between the body and the frame, and all I that happened was a tiny tip snap and the dents on the spine where i waled on it with a hammer, and a little coating scratching, but those are just battle scars.

This is about as much information as you will get on the process. http://www.scrapyardknives.com/ubbthread...true#Post383826 <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
