The reason HF sanders lose grit in the center is b/c all 3 of their wheels are rounded. A flat wheel would allow contact with the whole belt at once. The belt APPEARS flat, but when you put pressure on it, you hit teh center first.

Exactly....


The rounded wheels help the belts stay centered a bit better - track better.
