Well done yet again!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" />
What else would one expect from "The Grindmaster Extraordinaire of The Third World Grind Shop"! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" />
Your edges are ALWAYS shaving sharp, just the way I like um too!
And by the way that "Beefy Bowie" looks like a neat Pig Sticker too! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" />
You don't have any wild hogs in Georgia do you Vic? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
Peace.
Some people just never learn.

Peace. We sure do, from the mountains to the central farmlands to the swamps to the beaches of Cumberland Island, wild hogs seem to flourish here. I used to hunt them in the swamps, but that is a high energy sport. You're right, David, the Regulator would be a fine Pig sticker.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Very nice HD, I purchased a Craftsman 42" belt/disc sander combo and some 1" belts up to 600 grit I believe from Pop's. I have used it mainly for kydex sheaths so far but was going to try to learn grinding blades. One main question I have is what kind of belt speeds do you run. My set up is one speed and it seems pretty fast. Do you pro's use a variable speed and slow it down? Any other words of wisdom for a wanna be steel grinder?

The real knife making pros do have variable speed, but I just keep the steel moving. It isn't a real problem for me. After a while, it just becomes automatic, like tying your shoes. I imagine that by now there are at least a dozen or so fellow dogs here on the forum that can do a convex edge as well as I can or better. Advice? Practice on cheap machetes first.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.
