How about this hypothetical. . . . The truth is, we have no way of knowing how Dan & Patti would react if presented with such a scenario. But I seriously doubt they'd allow a few purchasers to corner the market. A far better alternative would be for Scrap Yard to negotiate with large purchasers to produce special runs at even better pricing than they able to offer individual purchasers. How do we not know that some people are not buying hundreds of blades at a time and reselling them, when the yard sells out in less than an hour. I agree that large purchaser should be able to go directly to the manufacturer. Then that would make them a dealer and maybe Dan does not want that. The only other way is to put a limit on the number you can order in 24 hours, maybe 10 or 20, I don't know, but who else besides a profiteer would order more than that at one time.

Hi guys,
Here's my 2 cents.
For reference, I'm an active duty soldier in an intensive training schedule while on a short notice deployment alert. I bought a second hand Street Scrapper 4 for my 1st line some time ago from a great gentleman from one of the knife forums and I was absolutely thoroughly impressed with the knife. But...
Sad story part 1.
So I figured since I really need a good solid E&E edged tool for my convoy kit for the dark continent the Dogfather might fit that role perfectly.
I was maybe a good few days, maybe even a week late from the dogfather release and sent an email to Scrapyard enquiring of the availability. Got a answer a week later, while I was in a ftx that no problem, they have one for me and will send it when I confirm my details. So after the ftx ended my reply to that email was like a week from that. And my reply never got a return. Me sad.
Sad story Part 2.
So, then I heard of a new really hard duty combat blade being released so I figured, I have got to secure this one! It would fit the bill spot on in my 2nd line.
I found out the preliminary release schedule and compared it to my training schedule and figured that no way was I so unlucky that I could not get myself a Dumpster Mutt because my ftx during the estimated release time was only a few days overlapping. So my ftx started and the sale had not got started yet. Slightly nervous, after a week I came back and saw that the release had been like two days ago. Went to the company shop and...them Mutts was gone! Me one sad puppy...
I was hit with some big bills this month so I can't even think of getting a second hand Scrapyard anytime soon.
Also, second hand option is not the one I go very easily because of the fact that like some here, I don't like the idea of people purchasing several blades for profit. Also the release system of relatively short supply released in one go seems not to be working for guys on the constant go too well. Too bad because Scrapyard is at the top of my book as far as blades go. They are great combat and hard duty tools I'm sure.
I'm just telling this to give you guys a little perspective, my perspective. Heck, there may be a preorder procedure that I could have used but atleast I am not aware of one.
Thanks for hearing me out. Take care. Welcome to the Yard Dan107. I hope you will find the blades you seek. If I come accross an exra at retail. I will be happy to let you know with a PM and get it to you at cost. Both of the blades you want are in high demand now but it could happen. I will be happy to get an extra knife of the next release for you if you are unable to be online. Just let one of us know in advance and I'm sure one of the dogs can help you get a SYKCO blade. Good luck.

In regards to price increases: This is one reason I really love the Rats, Hogs, and Dogs knives. I have often seen a knife I like and would like to try out but has doubled or tripled on the open market. But it so happens that I have had another knife that has done the same value wise. So I will go to the "Trade" forum. This way it doesn't matter how much it was jacked up because although I want a knife that has tripled in price I am willing to trade my knife which has tripled in price. Trading often seems a great way to get the best bang for your buck. Just my 2 cents.

I already have put ohiomitch on my craplist for his flipping of the DM. Gravelface, I have seen the load of overpriced knives you are selling (and have sold) over on BF and you sir are FULL OF CRAP! The idea that there is someone out there that really needed a DM, didn't get it and is now suffering is delusional. You should take a basic economics class, or find a worthy cause to right....

Both of you:
Let's keep flame wars and flaming off this site. Either speak arguments based in content, without ad hominem attacks, or take the discussion to private communications (phone calls, emails, etc .) to settle your disputes.

Come on guys, let's keep things civil !!! I understand where both of you are coming from, and you both should be able to tolerate each other's opinion whether you agree with it or not. This is a great forum, so let's keep it that way. If you really feel like you have to unload on someone do it via a personal message instead of starting a big controversy on the forum.
OhioMitch, I want to say Howdy and Welcome to the Yard ! I hope you and Gravelface can "bury the hatchet", and NOT in each other's back! He really is a great guy, and I suspect you guys can easily co-exist with just a little patience and effort. Please join in on our conversations, and again - Welcome! Tom

Mike - you beat me to it!! So, how are you doing ? I hope you are feeling up to snuff now, or at least better than before! We enjoy your photos, so please post some more. You and Ted take some great shots - how do you like Dan Melone's pictures from Kenya ? Dan is our forum's real-life Indiana Jones!! Anyway, always good to hear from you, so keep posting! Tom

Thanks for the welcome. I have been lurking here and have learned a lot! Love all the destructive testing pictures. I have been meaning to jump in, and I think it is sad that my first post is defending myself.....
I am not really interested in a flame war, but I saw my name in print here..... How can you not respond to that? Especially when it is hypocritical.
I have no respect for people who slam people behind their backs.
