I'm sorry to hear about your friend passing.

2 door or 4 K? Hard top? Nice looking cars.

Never!!!! ( behind my back) Besides I need a realistic daily driver. My '79 Chev P/U is hot rod, gas guzzler enough for me. 350 Olds rocket mated with a 400 turbo tranny, 12 bolt rear end and big 'ole 3.11's. 1/4 mile killer.

It's a 4dr Hard top. I know NOTHING about cars. He was a dentist and my Sunday School teacher. When he took the class up to his cabin, that's the car we would take. When I told him I liked it, he said he'd give it to me when he was done with it. We kind of joked about it, but he's a man of his word.

So, while I don't know much about cars, I keep it because it reminds me of a great person. I promised his wife that there were many adventures left to be had with the car and she said that that is what he would have wanted.

Those older cars are really fun to drive. I've already had several offers for it. Funny.

I personally don't have extensive experience restoring old muscle.

I used to be a big 4x4 enthusiasts. I grew up in a fabrication shop, where I learned how to weld and eventually evolved into a fitter over a few summers. I like to melt metal together and build things...what can i say. Transforming suspension systems and transplanting engines...oh, and big tires Anything less than a 33 isn't worth buying, lol (j/k, i know that's blasphemy for you muscle car types).

CO, that really is a cool car. Would be very interested to follow a weekly blog / thread if you decide to start one on the build up.

The chief cause of unhappiness and failure is trading what you want most in life for what you want at the moment.

Very honorable K. It's cool that you have many memories of the car.

Thanks Saint.

I can't wait to see what CO does with that car. While I don't know much about cars, I can certainly appreciate a cool one.

Heh, I think a blog would read like a poorly written comedy!

It helps that my wife absolutely adores classic cars and muscle cars. She wants this one even more than I do.

First step is to see if we even get it. From there, who knows. If I have the time, I would prefer to strip it right down so the frame can be inspected and powder coated. Reality may be different though.

We've had 2 guys in town here put there late 70's early 80's vintage Corvettes on 35's or bigger. Look's pretty cool. I'll get a pic next time I see one of them.

Congrats on the find CO.
It's cool that your wife is into classics as well.
Stripping it down like that can get VERY expensive but it would be a worth while investment. If you keep it as close to original as possible you could sell it at a HUGE profit. Kinda like Bussekin!!!

I would rather play it safe with the frame. I know the interior will need to be stripped. So will the engine and drivetrain. At that point, why not keep going and get the body right off so that the frame can get some proper protection.

Since it isn't a W-30 and there is no history paperwork on it the resale will never be too great. I just want a fun driver!

Your right. I agree. Might as well if you've gone that far.
It will definitely be a FUN driver.
