Between the gold show yesterday, and some reading I think I really want to get a good metal detector for use here in OK. Not a lot of gold in OK, but plenty of old places to check out. My wife's great grand parents place is all but gone but her relatives still ranch it so she thought it would be neat to go and hit it up. Problem is that there are so many different detectors out there I am confused. Been reading on them tonight, but so many options. I guess kinda like the Yard when there were color options for the S5------in the end they all work.
Anyone have any experience or use time on the detectors? I talked with a couple vendors and all were helpful, but I like knowing a bit more before hand.

Does anyone here have any experience with metal detectors? The wife and I were pretty intrigued by the vendors at the gold show yesterday. They sure are lighter and more versatile now but there is so many options I really don't know where to start. Being that in OK there is not a lot of gold per say we thought it would be fun to hit old home sites, etc. starting with the land her g-grandparents farmed. I know that area is old Chickasaw land and they did not believe in using banks back then.......it would be fun to find anything in my opinion.
