OH i was gonna ask someone with more experience...
the scrapyard site has the dogfather listed as being full flat grind, BUT ive heard the first run was sterile....and the photo is not sterile.

i thought only the LE was full flat, the one i have now is saber ground...

 im confused

i woudl imagine then that there are many DF's out there..

 the "original" -sterile
the one pictured in the site ( coated and full flat)
 LE
my "CG DF" with saber grind
 and the DDF

correct me where im wrong please

I like patina's. Forced can look VERY cool. I'm gonna force one on my khukuri eventually. I want to do a tiger stripe with two different kinds of vinegars.

first, as nice as the expensive hammocks are, if i was going to spend money somewhere it would be on the underquilt. my $15 grand trunks ultra light is plenty comfortable. i've been sleeping in it in various temperatures and configurations and excluding the lack of mosquito webbing, i feel no need for an upgrade. it's super light, super comfortable, and easy to set up/take down.

second, on the budget, those cheap blue closed cell foam pads are extremely effective bottom insulation. i haven't tried it below 45F, but i know i can go at least that low with my $30 sleeping bag. i think that pad was somewhere around $6, but we'll say $10 just in case.

Budget is an important factor. I HAVE to have a mosquito net around here though.
Underquilt is probably also important. I live in Canada. It get's cold at night.
