Using that method you don't apply any pressure right, just let the blade "rest" on the sandpaper? Exactly. Takes a ton of time on a "virgin" edge, but you end up with a seamless transition to a perfect convex.

Yes, however I had read that you can glue a piece of mousepad to the stone and maintain the convex.
