I live a couple hours east of there, in Morganton if you know where that is. We have the South Mountain State Park here, I usually go there into the backcountry where no body else goes.

The ranger station is on the other side of the park from where I go, and there is just about no traffic on this side of the park. I have a place on the river I like to camp, only have to hike in about 1/4 mile from parking area.

We took a train ride through the Natahala Gorge a couple years ago, I would love to do the white water rafting they do there if I could get a group up to go. It looked like it would be fun

well I plan to start working out a good bit more and hopefully I can find some cools places to go.

I need to get back to working out also, I have gained a bunch of weight in the past 3 years from just sitting and doing nothing while I work. I'm starting to have trouble with my back from it too, so I've got to do something.

I went rafting at least once a year. I grew up in NC. I just remember all the snakes some years were worse than others. I remeber one year when we were hikin swimming hole to swimming hole and found everyone with more copperheads and cotton mouthes than I wanted to play with. And huge centipedes.

Don't say the S word! I was on Wilson Creek last week and was sitting on an underwater rock, underwater from the chest down. I felt something rub my leg and looked down, there was a brown snake swimming between my legs about my knees. Wasn't proud of what I was yelling as I tried to get away LOL

I don't mind snakes as long as I see them first. It's the ones I don't see first that scare me!

I'm sure it was just a water snake, now that I've had time to think on it. I didn't have time then LOL

We would usually find them after we started swimming. That was the problem. I am just glad I don't have many snakes around here.
