The S6 is an absolute classic.. It is a lot more versatile than the DF imho (chopping v. battoning!), plus as it's lighter and smaller it's more likely to be carried thus there when needed... Best field knife going right now.

I agree 100%, perfect size. A machete is handy, but I would not carry one hiking. Under 7" greatly increases the odds of having it with me when I need it.

The amazing thing about the S6, IMO, is just how light it feels in your hands. It doesn't feel its weight at all, which is just what you want in an all around camp knife. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Yep, my S6 is my standard fixed blade carry.. (That may change if I buy a BA Tac..) My S6 is my favorite knife over my DF and SS4 even! Mind you now it's got Leatherface kydex my SS4 is cooler.. Out hiking where weight is important, it's nice to know you have a super tough field knife but don't have a huge weight to carry up hills!

Ditto. Except that mine is in a survival sheath.

Nice pix. It snowed here in Northern VA last night. Your S6 is just getting warmed up. I predict she will crave more wood soon!!! Sorry Karnack!

Now use it to split the wood and carve a spoon! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

It does a great job for this. I made a nice one, the first project with this knife.

took the S6 for a small trial run. cut down a 2 1/2 inch sappling in about 10 or 15 strokes.
