My only doubt about the Edgepro is the workholding system, or lack of it. How does it hold a large knife?

YOU hold it. Unless you go with the Pro series instead of the Apex.
The Pro model has a clamp. The Apex has a table that you hold the knife on.

Like I said to ColdOne last night, sometime you need to thin the herd, no matter what you collect. Everyone's taste changes over time, or you just flat run out of room. Either way, put some coin in your pocket and upgrade!

Yup! it's a horrible thought but when I consider the other things I can unload they are way more rare than these knives. like a 1 of 400 guitar I can't play and a vintage synth from 1978.

When you get the chance check out Jim Ankersons knife tests on youtube. He has an edgerpo and shows how to use it.
He was the one (and that video) that convinced me of the edgepro's greatness!

See, if I'm sharpening, say a Dogfather, that's going to be a big hunk of razor sharp steel right in your face if it falls, or worse, in your lap. I would like some type of clamping system, but to upgrade to the Pro is pretty steep.

I'm in the process of cleaning out my camera closet. I have backgrounds, stands, studio lights, etc, that I never use and I could sure use the money elsewhere right now.

I looked at the wicked edge for a while. never could pull the trigger on one. I think I'm just gonna grab a strop and get to work on a few of my blades.

My train of thought is that if I haven't used it in a year or two, time for it to go. I just sold an AR15 for that very reason.
