Thats my argument MB, what if someone calls that can't say anything, but only lays the phone down. I hear screaming in the background but don't have anyway to trace the call? I listen to someone get beat to death? This actually happened to me, only she didn't die. Nearly doesn't count.

I heard that call in my sleep for months. All because we can't have Caller ID.

I personally have used caller ID on more than one occassion to get back in touch with someone and the deputies having to arrest someone for domestic assault. ONE person had been stabbed although most of the time it's just blackeye or missing teeth or something.

Our 911 lines do have it, but not our admin lines. That's were we need it so badly, lots of people just call our admin lines even for emergencies.

Thats the scenario i was thinking of. It happens fairly often and caller ID and a reverse listing have saved the day more than once. If you are calling us you may not even know where you are and its another tool to help us locate and help you. Or locate a caller harassing dispatch and tying up a line.

The policy will change once someone THEY care about has a situation like that happen to them.

MB, we have several people that will call us just to harrass us, because they KNOW we can't do a thing about it because we don't know where they are.
