If Colorado doesn't swing back to a more conservative state I will have to move when I retire. Either Wyoming, Montana or Idaho are high on my list.

Corporations, the first harbinger of WWIII. I have a feeling Microsoft and Wal-Mart will have Paramilitary organizations within the next 50 years

Sounds like things have changes a bunch since I was in NC, I remember camping in the Smokies and not seeing anyone else unless we were near a road.

I had no idea you were situated in CO, MonkeyBomb. Whereabouts are you usually located? I'm likely to move to Montana too, after I ETS, hopefully after a few deployments I can have enough to buy a nice place and a bit of land. There are more deer than people in Montana, and Deer are tasty!

I hear Montanans have a fierce independant streak, they even threatened to recede from the union if thier 2nd Amendmant rights were threatened, since that would violate the pact by which they entered the union. Sounds like a great place to live! Sounds like a bunch I'd love to call neighbors! Me too!

Sounds like things have changes a bunch since I was in NC, I remember camping in the Smokies and not seeing anyone else unless we were near a road. Lots more crowded than it used to be. I'm 43 years old and I can remember going fishing and not seeing another boat all day. Can't do that now, not even during the weekdays in wintertime. Same for camping in the Smokies, more people, easier access.

Reminds me I need to look up and see what land is going for in my retirement states.

Even in the Linville Gorge, known as one of the most remote places east of the Rockies, you can't camp now without having hiker after hiker come right through your campsite.

I am glad I moved when I did. It would have killed me. Of course that was a long time ago.

I used to camp up on top of Mount Herman, but it's become such a tourist attraction anymore, even on the second peak, about a Km away, you still end up with people hiking thru. I wish we weren't such an invasive species, we take over everything, and too many people seem to have no appreciation of the natural beauty to which we owe our concrete and steel existance.
I think the Kahlua has gone to my head, I'm getting philisophical.

Thats why I like to hit the mountains during the week. A ton less people. Rampart is just insane on a weekend. I have seen some crazy stuff. Makes me leary of most people.

If I were to ever hit the lottery, I'd buy a big piece of land out west somewhere and put up 12 ft fences all around it LOL. I guess my wife is right, I'm turning into a hermit.
