Don't blame them. I have no problem with something being replaced when it is no longer serviceable or beyond it's useful timespan. But to sell a piece of gear that you KNOW you might have to depend on to save your life, STUPID!

There's no way it'll go through a SAPI plate with the force of my hand though.

Actually I never wore a vest in the service. But I did wear one RELIGIOUSLY during my three year stint as a cop. DON'T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT IT! (so you CAN come back home).

I always wear mine downrange. I even keep the side SAPI plates in. 4 total. Some Marines take hem out to conserve weight, but screw that. I train with the [censored] thing on so I can get used to its weight.

I think I am going to stick with the sheath that came with the Regulator. It seems pretty slid to me and held the knife in upside down when I through my vest around earlier.

You gotta ask yourself, is your LIFE not worth more than a couple pounds of material and some sweat! our (my) vest was the old style IIa that was somewhere around 3/4-1 inch thick and IT WAS HOT! But I wore it every time I was on duty AND when I was just a ride along.

It IS a pretty secure sheath. Like I said earlier though, IF you're bothered by the plastic liner you could always get someone to make you a custom kydex liner molded to the blade shape and the size of the sheath.

I think that is the route I am going to take. With a custom fit insert the sheath would be perfect. Plus it would be cheaper than an entirely custom sheath. They sell kydex at the Military Sales shop on the base here, and I can follow a simple tutorial. So, I may a project this week.

Well you can soften the kydex in boiling water (I did for one of my sheaths), you shouldn't have any trouble. But don't get it TO hot!

I was reading a tutorial earlier and they had the exact temperature to heat it in an oven. Shouldn't be too hard and I am not looking for pretty. I don't want it to look like a kindergarten project, but I think I can handle it.
