My wife says I critize myself WAY too much, but that's what makes me better. If I'm not perfect, then I'm not good enough. That isn't necessarily true, of course, but it makes me try that much harder.

Harsh self-criticism works for me. I like being that way.

I think it can be problematic for people with low self-esteem, but for me, it's just a tool of assessment and improvement.

By the way, would you like to see a picture where this issue has been prominent, recently?

I took a picture of a California slender salamander, sleeping on a leaf. The salamander slightly moved its head during the 13 second exposure. I'm trying to decide whether to consider the picture a reject. Others have been telling me that they think this picture is still something special, regardless of the technical flaws.

I saw the photo you're talking about, and I think it's a keeper,. motion included. It just has that "something" that I like, even though I can't quite put my finger on it.

I think I've seen it, but can't remember for sure. Put it up.
