Argh! And is it any surprise why people are bitter and uncooperative when it comes to police encounters?!
The encounter itself: What on earth was that LEO thinking? Was the cyclist presenting a weapon? No, we can see his hands. Driving an unmarked car, dressed in sweatshirt and jeans, and his first action is to pull his weapon and demand "Get off your motorcycle"? What happened to "Step one: Clearly identify yourself as law enforcement". His approach seems seems like an excellent way to get yourself attacked by somebody who believes there is a jack or mugging in progress.
Video taping LEOs in general: Why is this not explicitly allowed in every state and every situation? Law enforcement is a
public agency. They are payed by public funds and serve (theoretically) the public good by maintaining law and order. There can be no secrets about how they perform their job. Saying that we are not allowed to record the police in their duty is making the implicit admission that the police are doing things wrong more often than they are doing things right; that recordings of police encounters would do more harm than good when it comes to the efficient and proper execution of their duty.
I am disgusted. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />
