I've got a Colt as well, an Ar15a3 heavy barrel, with a flat top and I also have the carry handle with it. Really like mine.

One application, only took an hour, I dropped a few blobs of yellow mustard randomly on the blade, the wrapped it up with a Terry cloth totel soaked in white vinegar, saran wrapped it tight, then left it for an hour, washed it off with some soap and water then oiled it. Pretty easy, gonna do one on my skizzy soon

You could be. It looks like the parts of Jroden's blade with mustard on it didn't darken as much as the rest where the vinegar was touching. Then again, you may just be having an Alzheimer moment.

The Alzheimers moment MIGHT be right. I've got a BRKT Gunny I did that to with a potato. Just got a really big one, and shoved it inside and let is set for a couple 3 hours. Came out mottled looking and some places were not touched at all. Gonna have to do the vinegar thing to it to at least get SOME darkening of the whole blade.

Ok I didn't say the spud wasn't big enough I guess cause the blade split it and I had to wrap it and guess just didn't get it tight enough to completely contact the blade.
