don't forget all the little details we don't discuss when looking through specs. that subtle forward cant of the edge, the palm swell, choil, the meager features that may go overlooked but can really make or break a knife. it's like the bread you put your sandwich in.

I love the DM. The grip is just a 1/4 or 1/3 inch too short for me to get my whole hand on it. Its fine for reverse grip. Thats my only gripe. I'd like to see a full five inch version with a full size ResC grip. That'd be fantastic.

Great post! Good points on the Dumpster Mutt and the RD4. Handle insulation is one thing I prefer Scrapyard handle to normal full tangs. But a visible rear pommel from the Mutt's rear end would certainly be a functional improvement.

Great comparison, Diceman! I thought about comparing the Scrapper 6 to the RD-6, but I'm afraid the S6 would stomp the RD-6 like a narc at a biker ralley.

Thanks DM, good review. There is a group buy over at Rammy on Ranger knives if anyone is interested. It's a pretty good discount and John is a good guy to deal with.

Thanks guys. Ranger and Scrapyard are about the most bang for your buck out there. Scrapyard for performance, Ranger for inexpensive custom work and a wide variety of handle options.

Good lookin' Ted! I don't get anything "stock" from Ranger though, so I'll just be holding off til I get another semi-custom dreamed up! I just ordered a Ranger Little Bird for the wife w/ that blue/black G10 that Coldone got on his Ranger set. Should be here soon.

I totally agree Diceman. I have nothing but good things to say about both companies. My older style RD4 is a beast as is the Mutt.

I like Ranger Knives, too. I have three of them. In the 6" size, I much prefer the Scrapper 6. More comfortable handle, better point. I do not have a RD-4, but it looks like a very nice little knife. My 4" is a Swamp Rat HRLM. I really like it.

I had to buy 2 HRLM's just because I like them so much. It's an awesome little blade. Waiting for the SY equivalent since I missed out on the Infi Scrapper.
